Please Watch PUSHING DAISIES…That is All

Pushing Daisies - Frescorts

It’s Wednesday and thus my weekly ritual of getting down on my knees (I swear I’m doing it, and it’s very difficult to type in this position) and begging you to watch PUSHING DAISIES.  Begging – it’s really all I can do at this point in time.  You all know about it.  You’re either watching or you’re not.  But for all those “undecideds” out there – please tune in at 8pm on ABC tonight and just give it a shot.  It would mean the world to me.

Tonight’s episode, “Frescorts” features two familiar faces.  David Arquette and EVERWOOD’s Debra Mooney. Reason enough to tune in, right?!

When the most popular escort at a rent-a-friend agency turns up dead, the team investigates who killed him, including likely suspect Randy Mann (guest star David Arquette), the guy’s antisocial, taxidermy-loving roommate. Meanwhile, Emerson’s famed private investigator mom, Calista Cod (guest star Debra Mooney), pays an unexpected visit.

Over at ThePieMaker.com we are asking our readers to help spread the word about the show (Take 5 Minutes to Help PUSHING DAISIES).  ABC isn’t doing anything to help the show so it’s really up to the fans.  To that end, I wanted to post this comment left by Dan/Ducky with regards to the shows cancellation and what fans can do to help.

Campaigns where folks bombard the network with letters or pie tins or daisies have their place but the real way to get the network to pay attention is to get viewers in front of their television tonight and next Wednesday. No one is saying that ABC is dropping the show, it’s just that there is a fear the show could be in trouble. ABC has unfortunately not been promoting the show as much as it needs to which means we have to do double, even triple to get the word out there.

Not a single promo was aired for tonight’s episode “Frescorts” and that’s ridiculous. If you go over to ABC.com there are promos for both Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money airing tonight but nothing for Daisies. It’s sad but true. It appears that they’ve given up.

I feel sick over the fact that they didn’t promote this week’s episode and even worse knowing that David Arquette is guest starring… that’s something a network usually wants to highlight, a profile name like Arquette, so once again I’m left scratching my head and shaking a fist. Read more

Privileged: “All About Appearances”

I apologize if this is a little on the short (and late) side, but work is extremely crazy today and as much as I could go on, I have to cut myself off a little.

The big to do last night revolved around the twins being tapped to star in a national ad campaign for Limoges Cosmetics alongside their loving grandmother, Laurel. Megan suggested it, but this was before she realized it would take them to Europe for a month, causing them to miss a big chunk of school. Laurel and Megan once again go head-to-head with Laurel and her “my way or the highway” winning the argument. [FYI – I just recently got into “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” thanks to Philiana’s reviews on GiveMeMyRemote.com, and I have a whole new respect for Anne Archer after seeing her use and abuse Mac on that show. If you like demented and very funny, you must check it out sometime.]

Despite the blowout, Laurel revealed a softer side last night and confessed that she has felt estranged from her granddaughters since their mother’s death.  Seems the girls feel the same way.  Sage’s defensiveness about her relationship with her grandmother tells us so, as does Rose’s outright confession that she wants to have a better relationship with Laurel.  I think it’s going to be Megan’s new mission to get this family back on track. Aw, go Megan!

Dominic Monaghan to Guest on CHUCK

Dominic Monaghan to Guest on CHUCK

Nicole Richie, John Laroquette, Michael Strahan, Melinda Clarke…and now Dominic Monaghan.  With all the guest stars on CHUCK this season you would think we were watching 30 ROCK.  But unlike others shows who shall not be named (ok UGLY BETTY), CHUCK knows how to really utilize its guest stars so it feels more organic and less stunty (is that a word?  it is now).According to Michael Ausiello, Dom will come on board to play “a free-spirited British rock star targeted for death by a shadowy group of evildoers.”  But before you break out into a chorus of “You All Everybody”, just know that’s where the similarities end. “This is a very, very different kind of character,” insists executive producer Josh Schwartz. “He’s a lunatic in the best sense of the word. And there’s no heroin [addiction].”

It’s going to be a while before you see Dom at the Buy More.  His ep will be the big CHUCK ep planned for the day after the Superbowl.

Ausiello talked to Dom about how he came aboard the CHUCKwagon.  Read all about it here.

HOUSE: “Lucky Thirteen”…or Thirteen Gets Lucky

It looks like I jumped the gun by opening last week’s recap with simply, “Wow.” As tonight’s episode began with Olivia Wilde in a half naked lesbian tryst, my first thought (well, maybe not my first) was how to avoid using the “W” word again. Instead, I offer a meager attempt at insightful television criticism. Active television fans often read stories of showrunners or producers fighting with network suits over how to produce marketable television. For a show like Private Practice, the tension between art and finance led to the recasting of a key role from the show’s pilot. In the case of GMMR favorite Friday Night Lights, the creative process gave way to sexier, seedier plots to rope in a more desirable demographic. Tonight’s installment of House appears to be the best of both worlds, combining an intricate plot with the tantalizing beauty of Thirteen, played by Ms. Wilde. The result? A worthy successor to last week’s standout chapter in the House saga.

In case anyone missed it, here you go…

Wahlberg & Moynahan to Take on “Bunker Hill”

Wahlberg & Moynahan to Take on “Bunker Hill”

So I was just checking out“Viewer Discretion”, Matthew Gilbert’s TV column at Boston.com, when I stumbled across some interesting TV news.  It seems that Bridget Moynahan and Donnie Wahlberg will be teaming up for a new crime drama called “Bunker Hill”.

According to Gilbert, Wahlberg will play a cop who returns to Boston to protect the streets where he grew up. And Moynahan will play his sister-in-law, with whom he has a fraught relationship.

Bunker Hill is a section of Boston.  The two stars are both from Massachusetts – Donnie from Dorchester and Bridget from Longmeadow. Me? I’m from Malden and now Newton.  Ok you don’t care, but since we were sharing hometowns I thought I’d throw it out there.

While Donnie may best be known as a New Kid, lets not forget his brilliant turn in “Band of Brothers” and the short-lived but fantastic “Boomtown”.  Bridget was most recently seen on TV in “The Nine”, but around here she’s pretty much known as the mother of Tom Brady’s baby.

I’m kind of ‘eh’ on Bridget but I’ve been a diehard fan of Donnie Wahlberg for about (OMG) 17 years now!  Damn I’m old. I’ll root for a New Kid to do well until my dying days.

I’ll be keeping my eye out for this one.

HEROES Recap: Dying of the Light

Heroes

I keep singing the title of this episode to the tune of Manfred Mann’s “Blinded by the Light”. I am glad to be singing because I certainly thought this episode elevated this season.

Parkman & Daphne finally met in the airport, with Parkman’s tortoise in tow. Do you think that this love connection is going to happen? It was sweet that Parkman waited around all day while Daphne made her rounds, recruiting people for Pinehearst Industries. Speaking of Pinehearst…

Daddy Petrelli had a run in with Adam Monroe and turned him to dust. It’s a sad day for Kensei fans because it looks like he’s toast. Arthur Petrelli looks to be the original Sylar, capable of stealing others’ abilities. He is now able to leave his hospital bed, courtesy of Mr. Monroe. Do you expect any others to join the villain squad that Arthur is assembling? Is anyone surprised that Sylar is not a part of it anymore and is reforming his bad, bad ways?

CHUCK vs. The Cougars…and Nicole Richie

CHUCK stars Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski

Did you love it or did you love it?

Alright, guys, I am having a god-awful day at work, like … being-forced-to-go-to-your-high-school-reunion-and-then-getting-into-a-fight-with-your-old-nemesis bad day. Except with slightly less bloody and much less sexy. So to that end, it’s going to be a short one but I have a lot of things to cover, so let’s get going, shall we?

First of all, I too loved Nicole Richie in this, and I thought Ben Savage was great too. Billy thought it was cute that Chuck had a friend and I agreed, and kind of wished they could keep him around sometimes to hang out with Chuck. And also, didn’t he make you miss Topanga, and I don’t mean Danielle Fishel, but like, TOPANGA?

I was glad to see another good Casey episode! That little two second shot of him being the DJ was so killer. And speaking of the DJ, I was so entertained by the musical selection. I was the class of ’99 and so it was all really familiar.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: Shelter Island

HOw I met your mother - ted and stella’s wedding

Raise your hand if you knew Stella and Ted wouldn’t marry. One, two, three…fifty-seven, fifty-eight, fifty-nine…Great.

While I drone on and on about being a Sarah Chalke fan, I also drone on about my feelings that Stella isn’t right for Ted. She’s mentioned Lucy’s dad a few times before this episode and when she did, I always had this inkling that she was still in love with him. I imagine it is hard to have a child with someone, see him all the time, wanting to marry him and because he wouldn’t commit, you break it off.

Due to Stella’s sister’s fiancé bailing out just a few days before their wedding, Stella decided that she and Ted would get married in her place. Nora was already stealing all of Stella’s dream wedding plans, so it wasn’t a problem for Stella to take it over. But this was definitely not a Ted Mosby wedding. It was taking place at a yoga retreat center that served no alcohol and was 100% vegan. Let me backtrack a second to praise Ted for still ordering the lamb after Nora tried to meat guilt trip him.

About Last Night: GOSSIP GIRL, SAMANTHA WHO?, and other Monday Night Shows

Monday Night TV Lineup

I never feel more like a TV watching pro then when I’m tackling the monster that is Monday night TV.  I’ve got both DVRs working and I’m flipping from one show to the next like it’s my job…which to contrary belief it’s not.  I go from CHUCK to GOSSIP GIRL and then switch over to THE BIG BANG THEORY before HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.  This week I took on all of that while still trying to keep up with the Patriots on Monday Night Football.  And if that wasn’t enough, I even managed to get in Sunday’s ep of MAD MEN.  I’m tired just writing about it.

I don’t know if it was just me, but I thought we had some pretty kickass TV last night.  Now we’re going to be talking about it all (or at least most of it) today…but in due time.  Jen will checking in later with her thoughts on HIMYM; Randi will be breaking down last night ep of HEROES, and SB will be chatting with you about Nicole Richie’s guest stint on CHUCK.  So hold off on those shows for now – you’ll have time to comment a way in just a bit.  But for right now there’s a few things to discuss.

GOSSIP GIRL…
Welcome back Blair & Chuck. We’ve missed you.  Last night’s episode payed homage to one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies of all time, “Cruel Intentions” (well I’m going to assume they were paying homage and not just ripping off the plot completely).  Blair enlisted Chuck to seduce and destroy Vanessa, and in return he could have what he’s wanted all this time…Blair.  But when Chuck stumbles across his own conscience things don’t go as planned for Ms. Waldorf.  Vanessa sees the nicer side of Chuck, and the Basshole denise the Queen B.  Now it’s time for Blair to chase after Chuck…I can’t wait.

Three words.  Eight letters. And he’s yours, Blair. Read more
