About Last Night: GOSSIP GIRL, SAMANTHA WHO?, and other Monday Night Shows

Monday Night TV Lineup

I never feel more like a TV watching pro then when I’m tackling the monster that is Monday night TV.  I’ve got both DVRs working and I’m flipping from one show to the next like it’s my job…which to contrary belief it’s not.  I go from CHUCK to GOSSIP GIRL and then switch over to THE BIG BANG THEORY before HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.  This week I took on all of that while still trying to keep up with the Patriots on Monday Night Football.  And if that wasn’t enough, I even managed to get in Sunday’s ep of MAD MEN.  I’m tired just writing about it.

I don’t know if it was just me, but I thought we had some pretty kickass TV last night.  Now we’re going to be talking about it all (or at least most of it) today…but in due time.  Jen will checking in later with her thoughts on HIMYM; Randi will be breaking down last night ep of HEROES, and SB will be chatting with you about Nicole Richie’s guest stint on CHUCK.  So hold off on those shows for now – you’ll have time to comment a way in just a bit.  But for right now there’s a few things to discuss.

GOSSIP GIRL…
Welcome back Blair & Chuck. We’ve missed you.  Last night’s episode payed homage to one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies of all time, “Cruel Intentions” (well I’m going to assume they were paying homage and not just ripping off the plot completely).  Blair enlisted Chuck to seduce and destroy Vanessa, and in return he could have what he’s wanted all this time…Blair.  But when Chuck stumbles across his own conscience things don’t go as planned for Ms. Waldorf.  Vanessa sees the nicer side of Chuck, and the Basshole denise the Queen B.  Now it’s time for Blair to chase after Chuck…I can’t wait.

Three words.  Eight letters. And he’s yours, Blair.I  kind of wish the writers would decide on a direction for Serena.  I don’t really buy her as this saucy bitch, especially when in the next scene she’s so regretful.  But it was nice to see her and Dan reunite…as friends.  Speaking of Dan and his new friends, let’s hope that Erik van der Woodsen isn’t the only character partial to the boys on the show.  Dan and Nate are getting all kinds of chummy.  And I’m just saying that seeing those two getting hot and heavy wouldn’t be the worst thing.  They’re both just so pretty. Alas, I don’t see it happening, but I do like their new found friendship.

Erik has a boyfriend and he’s adorable. I’m still not a fan of Vanessa…at all.  I know others love her – not me.  I’ve met Jessica Szohr and she’s smoking hot.  Why they insist on making her look like that on the show is beyond me.

An all around good episode – as a whole, a lot strong than last season.  Now let’s see if the writers can keep Blair and Chuck on track for the next few episodes.  The other characters, while serving their purpose, kind of bore me.

What else were you watching?

Since most of the other shows I watched are being reviewed by other members of Team GMMR, I thought I would hand it over to you to share your thoughts on what you watched last night.

So SAMANTHA WHO? fans…tell us about last night’s episode.  The good…the bad…the forgetful (see I’ve watched the show…I know about the memory loss).

Who out there is watching MY OWN WORST ENEMY?  I want to.  I really do.  I’m just having a really hard time finding the time.

It’s killing me to be so far behind on TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and PRISON BREAK (especially Prison Break), but I don’t know what to do.  I usually play TV catch up on the weekends, but things have been so busy as of late that I just haven’t had the time.  Are you guys still watching?  What’s been going on with these shows?  How are they doing this season?

What else are you watching?  DANCING WITH THE STARS? (Team Lacey!!).  Anyone watching WORST WEEK or worst show ever TWO AND A HALF MEN? Any CSI: MIAMI fans out there? BOSTON LEGAL?

Here’s your chance to talk about some of the shows we don’t normally cover here on GMMR because we just don’t have the time.  (See note at top…this isn’t my real job)

I hear you! I feel like a TV-watching pro on Mondays, too – and I’m definitely not one! I watch HIMYM, Chuck and Samantha Who, and I’ve recently started enjoying Big Bang Theory when I have time. And I have liked the first two eps of My Own Worst Enemy. But since I do all this with just a VCR (gasp!), I’m not sure how long I can keep up this pace!

I saw Samantha Who? and I actually liked it. The female cast is beautiful (see for yourself) and if I’m not mistaken, the guy from 7th heaven and The Boogeyman Christina Applegate looks kind of different though, but not bad.

I’m SO mad, my dvr didn’t record Gossip Girl for me last night!!! Does anyone know when the cw puts up the new episode to watch?? It’s driving me nuts that I haven’t seen it yet!

Gina – I missed last week’s ep due to DVR malfunction. I’m not sure when The CW gets them online but not quick enough for me. I put up the $1.99 and bought it off of iTunes.

I’ve just caught up with TV from yesturday, and I have to say last night appeared to be TV gold – seriously. I don’t think anything I watch was off at all last night.

Big Bang Theory and HIMYM were both great. Chuck and Gossip Girl had me giddy, and Heroes just blew my mind. All in all TV gold last night…. which is good, because we needed it.
