Who Went Home on THE AMAZING RACE?

March 22, 2009 by

Here I was thinking I’d be safe by setting up my DVR to record THE AMAZING RACE an extra half hour each week so I wouldn’t miss the ending, even if the shows preceding it ran long.  But nope, a half hour wasn’t long enough because half way through tonight’s episode the show was cut off.  Thanks again CBS. Honestly you all really know how to treat fans of your shows.

What I don’t understand is why CBS put their top reality show in this time slot. A competition based reality show where the ending is actually a pretty big reason to watch.  Why not put one of their crappy half hour comedies like ‘Worst Week’ on Sunday nights. Who will really care if that show is preempted.

Clearly I’m a little bitter tonight, but I just felt like CBS wasted my time tonight.

So if you happen to know what happened in the second half of THE AMAZING RACE and would like to share your thoughts in the comments I’d greatly appreciate it.  I saw only up until the start of the Detour.

Tammy and Victor finished first, and it wasn’t even close (booooo!). Flight attendants had to perform the speed bump (decorating an elephant with paint) and were eliminated (arrived slightly behind the stuntmen).

I was home last night so was able to wait for AR to come on, but had I been gone the DVR would have taped only half of it also. This is so frustrating to me as well — and even when regular programming goes over by a minute or two and the DVR stops at the top or bottom of the hour and you miss the last couple of minutes. Grrrr!

The blonds went home. Now if the other team of the two women would go home also, then all will be well. They drove me nuts with the complaining and the talking down of the way people lived in India.

March Madness is making me mad…I too despise how it delays TAR, that and football. They know the sports things run long!!!!!!!!! I happened to be home so I knew what was coming. Usually I’m thinking why don’t they skip 60 Minutes but tonight they had Obama so I’m sure they didn’t want to do that.

    So a few recappy things:
    – Mel looked like he was not going to make it through the first detour carrying the water and feed, but he outsmarted the young’uns by using the basket correctly on the feed and beat all but Tammy
The 2nd detour was eiither donning a colorful animal costume and dancing with the band on the street for 100 rupees or pedalling a bicycle contraption with 10 or so barrels of hay to a destination and then you had to find a small metal elephant in the hay.
    – All but the stunt guys did the dancing. I don'[t think they wanted to be on display which makes sense to me, although it hurt them.
    – Luke moved pretty well for not being able to hear the music. Margie had horrible pink lipstick all over her teeth, poor thing, as she smiled and begged for rupees
    – The flight attendants had to paint the face of an elephant to ready it for a festival for their speedbump and they did so loingly and without any whining.
    – Tammy/Victor got to the mat way before others, Mel and Mike next
    – Stunt guys couldn’t find the little elephant in the hay and got to the mat what looked like moments before the flight attendants.
    – Ba-bye flight attendants (actually they’re alright so didn’t want to see them go home.)
In scenes from next week, it looks like Margie collapses – I am guessing from the heat and it looked like they were still in India.

Thanks for the updates. I honestly didn’t want to go through the hassle of trying to watch the episode online when I know I could get my updates from you fine people.

How are we going to get rid of Tammy & Victor!

Anyone else surprised at how well Mike & Mel are doing? (And did I just doom them by writing that?)

I’m not surprised at all at how well Mel & Mike are doing. They have the best attitude about the race. They pick detours by how fun/educational they will be and not how they think they will do. Mel looked like he was going to die out there and yet used his head and was able to get an advantage that way. I really think the race is about making smart choices and not about brute force and athleticism.

Tammy & Victor….I’m thinking a Margie and Luke road block is needed ASAP! Also they need to find something else that will get Victor’s ego involved. That’s usually his downfall.

I think we’re overdue for a roadblock but…someone has to get there ahead of Victor/Tammy to hold them up. Mel/Mike are 2nd starting out next week so they may have the best chance.

I really wish some of the teams would band together to get Tammy & Victor booted. Amazing Race meets Survivor! That or they do something totally stupid and get lost. I really don’t want them to win.

I was really worried Mel was going to collapse during that first detour. But I was so impressed that he beat them all! They are definitely my favorite team. And the cheerleaders were especially annoying this week. It seems like they are always yelling at people, and getting mad when they don’t speak English. Very obnoxious.
