24: Day 7 | 4:00 a.m.- 5:00 a.m. - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

24: Day 7 | 4:00 a.m.- 5:00 a.m.

Not much happened this week until the end of the episode, but there are a lot of possibilities for where things could go.

Debrief

  • The CTU servers dug out of storage hadn’t served up any information. Jack, using the information he had received from Jonas, told Chloe to search for all Muslims in the database. Janis whines about it. Jack yells at her. She shuts up. Chloe finds out about Jack’s exposure to the bioweapon and impending death. He tells her to buck up.
  • Tony has Jabran read a statement or else they will kill his brother. While he is reading it, the cops show up. Jabran’s neighbor reported a disturbance and some unknown visitors to the apartment. Jabran, under threat of death, waves them off.
  • Chloe finds a lead on Jabran, his mosque leader. When they talk to him, he recognizes Jack and assures them that Jabran is not a terrorist. Shockingly enough, Jack doesn’t believe him. When the cop who visited Jabran tells the FBI where he lives, Jack handcuffs the mosque leader and brings him along.

  • Olivia calls her friend Martin to talk about killing Hodges. She gives him the time and place and tells him she’ll pay him beforehand if she really wants it done. Aaron is acting funny.
  • Jonas is assigned a US Marshall to get him into Witness Protection. On his way to his new life, his SUV blows up. Aaron is still acting weird. Olivia is scared poopless right now, since she cancelled the whole thing since her dad is back in the White House…because apparently that matters.
  • Jabran is forced to lie to his brother about being a terrorist and leave. Chloe puts all the pieces together and sees that Jabran is innocent. The FBI shows up to Jabran’s apartment and Jack realizes that Tony and the Group are using Jabran’s brother as leverage. They enter the apartment and tell Jabarn’s brother the truth before he can kill the one bad guy left.
  • Tony and crew take Jabran with them and he sees that they are going to use the bioweapon in the DC Metro system.

Agent Philboy’s Assessment

This week was really used to connect what will be the last three weeks. They blew up Jonas just in time, as we really had no use for him anymore. I’m really confused as to where Aaron is playing into everything and I am just hoping that the writer’s didn’t make him a bad guy. This would make the second turncoat in a season and I’m not sure young Phil who started watching the show in 2001 and got to know Aaron and Tony could take it. He might die.

Honestly, it might have been more realistic, but I think Jonas’ death was misplaced. Shouldn’t it have been at the end of the episode? I was completely shocked with the way it went down, considering I thought his witness protection stint would be his ride into the sunset…if the sun were out at 4 a.m.

The best part of this episode, in my opinion is a tie between two moments, one incredibly moving and one continuing the trend we’ve seen this season of dealing with the world that “24” has created.

Chloe learning about Jack’s illness was incredibly sad and moving. Just like last week, the writers have done an excellent job presenting a realistic reaction in Chloe and Mary Lynn Rajskub did a beautiful, Chloe-rific job at delivering the sentiment. Secondly, the discussions between Jack and the mosque leader continued to show how self-aware the “24” team is being this season, realizing, much like Jack has, that their past actions have consequences, even if it’s in the fictional world of “24.”

What I Learned…

  • Not all Witness Protection U.S. Marshalls are as cute as Mary or witty as Marshall on “In Plain Sight”
  • Judgment has a smell, apparently.
  • Nothing good can happen to you when you get into an all black vehicle.
  • When in doubt, text message. Or call back. Again and again.

Weekly Kill Count = 1 Total Kill Count = 363+

What could I include to make these reviews more comment-y? (Are people watch 24 out there?!)

Philboy is GMMR’s resident Dexter and 24 analyst. He spends his days studying Communications at Purdue University and his nights failing at keeping up with all of the TV shows he loves. His can’t miss shows are “24”, “Chuck” and “How I Met Your Mother.” The thoughts running through his head for this week are, “One more week and you are officially done with school, sir. Keep your chin up.” And “The GT Xpress 101 from the infomercial actually works. Chalk that one up in the surprise column.”

Good wrap-up. I hope that wasn’t the season finale.

I’m still watching, and while I do find myself contining to tune in, I don’t feel thrilled and on the edge of my seat so much. (Remember when they exploded the nuclear bomb a few seasons ago? I don’t think I brethed for an hour after that…) I do want to see them find a cure for Jack, and I want to see Tony come to a good come uppance. Aaron is making me nervous, too, but I think it will be more about him either covering for or exposing the President’s daughter..
