TRUE BLOOD: I Will Rise Up

August 19, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Philboy, True Blood

I’m Marty McFly. Jump in my time machine and we’ll go all the way back to Sunday night to talk about this week’s episode of TRUE BLOOD.  It was so good that you all want to still talk about it three days later, right?  I hope.

This week, Philboy and I teamed up to talk TRUE BLOOD.  I’m covering the recap portion of this post while he looks forward to talk about the impact this episode has on the future.  I thought it was important to include this note as there is good chance my section may include just a little bit about how damn sexy Erik looked this week.  I’m sure Philboy’s a fan too, but just not in the same way I am.

Where to begin.  Perhaps right where last week’s episode left off.  Luke doing “God’s” work and blowing up the vampire gathering at the Fellowship of the Sun.  Bye Luke, I’ll miss you.

We learn that both humans and vampires were killed, but since none of our favorites were spared, do we really care?

Bill was outside with Lorena at the time of the explosion and wasn’t there to protect Sookie.  Good thing Erik was.  He actually threw himself on top of her to save her life.  What a hero.  Erik got a few silver bullets lodged in him during the massacre and only Sookie could save his life by eating (what?) the bullets right out of his body.  Did anyone else find this extremely odd and disturbing? And no, I don’t want to hear from those of you who thought it was hot.

If you saw the twinkle in Erik’s dead eyes then you know he was not in any real danger. He enjoyed Sookie getting the bullets out of him.  But more than that he liked the look in Bill’s eyes when he saw that Sookie drank Erik’s blood in an attempt to save his life (is life the right word?) As a result of this exchange, Sookie and Eric are intrinsically linked.  Love it!

BIG BROTHER Chaos…Let’s Discuss

Let’s cut right to it.  This season’s BIG BROTHER has turned into an absolute shit show! Sorry about the lack of an earmuffs warning kids, but there’s just not a better way to describe it.

I haven’t watch every season of BIG BROTHER, but to me this seemed like one of the craziest episodes ever!

Saturday morning I posted all about Chima’s ousting, right after it happened. (Breaking: MAJOR BIG BROTHER Scandal from Inside the House) But tonight we got to see a little more as to how it played out.  A note to future BB houseguests, when Allison comes over the intercom, it ain’t a good thing.

Chima’s been claiming all week that it was her decision to leave.  From the editing tonight it certainly seemed like BIG BROTHER was the one with the foot up Chima’s ass, but since they control the editing how about we call it a draw.

I thought it was interesting to see the reaction of Chima’s “friends” post her departure.  Kevin was the most emotionally devastated.  Natalie started getting belligerent talking about wanting “vindiction” (really…vindiction?). And Lydia, of all people, was rational and level-headed about the whole thing. Clearly she had taken her meds that night.

But don’t get too excited, the sanity didn’t last for too long.

WAREHOUSE 13: Implosion

Warehouse 13

Warehouse 13

Yessssssss. Yes, yes yes! A character driven storyline supported by interesting plotline makes for one very happy Seeleybaby. Throw in no Claudia, and a helpful relevant dash of Leena, and it was the best episode of the season. Artie, Myka and Pete were all people in this episode, not just characters. We learned more about Artie’s past, Mrs. F’s purpose, and got to see Pete and Myka fight for their team. I loved it. LOVED it.

But let’s not forget…INVISIBILITY! Woot!

THAT whole dealio wasn’t played up enough. That sword was one sharp as heck piece of scary, no? The invisible swordsman (ha!) was only really in a few minutes. When I saw Roger Rees was going to be on this episode, I was mega-pumped. When there were only about ten minutes left in the episode, and we still hadn’t seen him, I was bummed. I thought his ten minutes were choice though, and scary (he cut that guy’s head OFF! When he was INVISIBLE!), so I’m pretty pumped that he’ll probably (please say yes, writers) be around for more! Did you notice the rocking chair in the warehouse at the end of the episode? It started rocking as if someone, invisible, perhaps, was sitting in it. Word!

Pete at the beginning of the episode with the sword was funny fun fun. But I really loved the way Pete felt hurt by Myka’s “you be the smart one this time” comment, and by the way Pete didn’t want to acknowledge Artie’s treason. Myka, though, needed to know the truth, and I like her more for that too.

FAMILY GUY Takes on THE OFFICE at Emmy Time

Every vote counts. The people over at the FAMILY GUY know that…very well. When it comes to this year’s Emmy for Best Comedy, they know they’ve got to, um, leave their mark on every single Emmy voter. Even if it means taking out the legs of the competition.

This time around, Stewie’s target is Brian who happens to be a fan of my favorite comedy, THE OFFICE.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to GLEEk out! Later today I’m heading out to meet up with the cast of GLEE on the first stop of their GLEE Summer Tour.

Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron and Mark Salling are all here in Boston (and yes it’s killing me not to stalk them out). They’ll be doing a Q&A and signing autographs for fans. I’m not sure what the press access will be like, but I’ll do what I can to bring you the inside scoop.

If you’re in the Boston area and plan on attending the event, drop me a line.  And I hope you’ll say Hi if you see me!

Meanwhile, make sure you’re following @GMMR on Twitter as Team GMMR will be there sharing pics, video and more live from the event.

GLEE returns to Fox on Wednesday, September 2nd with an encore presentation of the already beloved pilot, but this time around you’ll see the director’s cut which features new scenes and even a new song by Matthew Morrison.  New episodes of GLEE start on September 9th! I can’t wait!!

In honor of today’s GLEEful celebration, check out a behind-the-scenes look at “Gold Digger” from an upcoming episode of GLEE.

I’m back!!

Mostly.

After being without a computer for almost a week, the kind people at the Apple Store finally gave me back my baby last night.  He has a nice new keyboard and everything.  Here’s to hoping he’s all better…for good.  As pathetic as it is, I’m really at a loss without my computer.  Blogging from my iPhone just isn’t all that fun.

So we’re back. But given the overwhelming Sunday night lineup, I think it’s going to take until later tonight to get all caught up.  We’ll have thoughts on TRUE BLOOD and MAD MEN later this morning, but I haven’t even made my way to the DVR to see AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW, HUNG, or ENTOURAGE yet.  We sure are spoiled on Sunday’s, no?

It’s just about the perfect time to get my computer back because later today I’m going to be heading out to see the cast of GLEE. They’ll be doing press as part of their first stop on the GLEE summer tour.  I’m not sure exactly what the press situation will be like but I’ll do my best to cover what I can.  Be sure to follow my Twitter updates for the latest from the GLEE tour.  More later on this great event.

On to tonight’s lineup.  A lot to choose from.  Set those DVRs wisely.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire | 8pm on ABC
Contestants answer trivia questions to win cash; Patricia Heaton plays for charity; author Jodi Picoult is the lifeline expert. [GMMR: Now normally I’m not that excited for ‘Millionaire’, but when my favorite author (next to Billy Shakespeare) is the lifeline, I might just have to tune in. Go Jodi!!]

The Secret Life of the American Teenager | 8pm on ABC Family
“Hot Nuts”
When Amy and Adrian’s quarreling begins to get out of hand, it’s up to Ricky to step in and try to alleviate the situation.

Make it or Break It | 9pm on ABC Family
“Where’s Kaylie?”
Carter tells the truth about his infidelity; the girls search for Kaylie on the night before leaving for Nationals.

The Closer | 9pm on TNT
“Maternal Instincts
A shooting leaves one dead and one person critically injured; Brenda and Fritz fight over how to handle Charlie; Provenza makes a big life change.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 | 9pm on TLC
“Battleship & Barber”
Kate takes the boys to explore the battleship USS North Carolina; Kate brings the boys to a barbershop for haircuts. [GMMR: Meanwhile Jon hops around the country with a different hoochie on his arm each night. Oddly enough, they are all named “Kate”.]

Raising the Bar | 10pm on TNT
“Bobbi Ba-Bing”
Jerry defends an inmate charged with stabbing another inmate; Richard works with Ashley, a new public defender, on a case involving a homeless man arrested for panhandling.

Weeds | 10pm on Showtime
“Ducks and Tigers”
Esteban’s daughter arrives, leaving Nancy with a whole new set of problems to deal with; Andy and Audra revel in a day’s worth of quality time together; Celia engages in some sexual exploration, while Dean, Isabelle and Doug plot revenge against her.

Nurse Jackie | 10:30pm on Showtime
“Pill-O-Matix”
Kevin buys a replacement for Jackie’s destroyed wedding ring; the new automatic pill dispenser leads to the hospital downsizing Eddie; and an injured movie critic (Victor Garber) is given the wrong dose of a painkiller and slips into a coma. Meanwhile, Coop breaks up with his girlfriend.[GMMR: FANTASTIC episode tonight.  It’s hilarious (please give Merritt Wever some acting award STAT!) with a big ol’ twist. Oh any Spy Daddy, Victor Garber – you can’t go wrong with that man!]

Also playing…

  • How I Met Your Mother | 8pm on CBS: Ted walks into the apartment and finds Robin’s date sitting on the couch naked. [GMMR: I know I don’t usually spotlight reruns, but the “Naked Man” episode of HIMYM is classic.  It shouldn’t be missed…even in repeats.]
  • Great American Road Trip | 8pm on NBC: The three remaining families travel to California and try to secure a spot in the final two.
  • Dating in the Dark | 9pm on ABC: The participants try to determine their most compatible match by looking through the opposite sex’s cars.

On the late night couch…

  • The Late Show with David Letterman: Quentin Tarantino, Eric Ripert, Robert Cray
  • The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien: Adam Sandler, Peter Sarsgaard, Kate Voegele (R 7/20/09)

Who Went Home on BIG BROTHER?

August 13, 2009 by

Possibly the biggest episode of BIG BROTHER ever and I’m sitting here without a computer?! FAIL!

But I’m not going to let a lack of a computer stop me. Hells to the no! That’s what the iPhone is for my friends.

I’ve already heard some rumors about tonight episode of BIG BROTHER but I’m not going to say anything in case the rumors are wrong. But I will post what goes down as it happens during tonight’s episode. So keep checking back for the latest.

Most importantly…the comments are open!

Updates from the live show…
Julie tells us that Jeff won the coup d’état with an overwhelming amount of votes.

Natalie looks like a girl tonight. Surprising.

Here we go! YES!! Jeff has decided to use the coup d’état!! He took Lydia and Russell off the block and replaced them with Natalie and Jesse.

Lydia voted to evict Natalie. Jordan voted for Jesse. Kevin voted for Jesse. Michelle voted for Jesse. Russell voted to evict Natalie.

Julie gave Jesse the news of his eviction. He seemed to be bummed but he took it well at first. He didn’t freak out like I thought he might. He’s been here before. But he was borderline rude to Julie. What an asshat. And what was up to his rudeness to Kevin? Because Kevin didn’t vote for him? I don’t get it.

Looks like Chima was all talk. She promised she was going to go off but she kept it together. Her reaction in the house tonight is going to determine whether or not she is the target next week.

This week’s HOH is more important than ever. And the new Head of Household is…Michelle! Wow, this is going to be interesting. Will she side with Team Jeff or Team Chima? If Russell has any sense he is going to keep his huge mouth shut this week. I think Michelle is leaning more towards protecting Chima than she is rallying for the other side which includes Russ.

An innocent victim in this whole mess is Jordan. She’s going to feel the brunt of Chima and Natalie’s rath.

Oh snap…Julie let’s us know that next week is a double eviction!

What a crazy night! I can’t wait for BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK tonight.

At least there is TV to look forward to.  Which shows will YOU be checking out tonight? Leave a comment here or send me a message via Twitter.

Big Brother 11 | 8pm on CBS
In tonight’s episode, the houseguests are going to evict either Russell or Lydia, that is if Jeff decides not to use the power of coup d’etat.  A new HOH will be named. The Real Housewives of Atlanta | 10pm on Bravo
“Unbeweavable”
A reconciliation between Sheree, NeNe and Kim does not go as planned; Kim throws a wig party; Dwight holds a circus-themed birthday party. [GMMR: Maybe I’ll catch up in a marathon, but this season hasn’t hooked me.  Sorry.]

Royal Pains | 10pm on USA

The Most Dramatic BIG BROTHER Eviction Ceremony Ever?

Please tell me that there are other die hard BIG BROTHER fans out there jumping out of their skin in anticipation of tonight’s “live” eviction. I put “live” in quotes because there are rumors circulating that tonight’s eviction might not be exactly live to those of us watching at home. Speculation is swirling that the producers don’t want to rely on the hand dandy seven second delay because it might not be enough to handle The Chima if things don’t go her way tonight. That’s how insane it just might get.

Why?

The coup d’etat.

I’m going to be talking spoilers and speculation after the jump so read on if you don’t mind being spoiled.
