Who Went Home on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?

November 11, 2009 by

Last night you voted an according to a tweet earlier today from Uncle Nigel, at least one of the couples in the bottom three might be surprising to some. Who will it be?

I’ll be live blogging tonight’s elimination episode, so feel free to comment along until tonight’s tearful goodbye.

Tonight’s Top 16 opening number was an African inspired Hip Hop number choreographed by Dave Scott. It was intense and there was plenty for the eye to take in. And what about that leap across the other dancers that Legacy did. Crazy.

After a quick chat with the judges, Cat calls the first three couples to the stage to find out their fate.

  • Ellenore and Ryan: Bottom Three
  • Channing and Victor: Safe
  • Kathryn and Legacy: Safe

I don’t know about you, but I’m really looking forward to see Ryan and Ellenore dance for their lives tonight. They are both so talented that I can’t imagine them leaving the competition this early.

It’s Dom! Season 3 SYTYCDancer and member of ABDC’s Quest Crew gave us a little dance lesson sponsored by SYTYCD’s new partner, K-Mart.  I know, K-Mart, right?

  • Ashleigh & Jakob: Safe
  • Pauline & Peter: Bottom Three
  • Noelle & Russel: Safe

Whew…I was nervous there for a minute.  I would have been really bummed out if Noelle & Russel were in the bottom three.  Where I don’t really care about Noelle that much right now, I’m a huge fan of my Boston boy, Russell.

The final two couples take the stage and one of the two of them will be in the bottom two.  Based on the performance it should definitely be Mollee & Nathan, but I think they have the tween votes locked up.  Let’s see.

  • Karen & Kevin: Bottom Three
  • Mollee & Nathan: Safe

Ugh. So frustrating! So we are going to see either Karen, Pauline or Ellenore go home tonight.  And we’ll also say goodbye to either Ryan, Peter or Kevin. Nigel really laid into Nathan tonight. He called him immature, and he basically told him that he was safe tonight because of his looks and not because of his dancing.  And because of it a better male dancer would be going home tonight.  But what really bothered me in Nigel’s whole speech was that it was 100% directed to Nathan, and Mollee was left out it.  Disappointing because Nathan is clearly the better dancer of the two. I think she is holding him back in a big way.

Three members of the Alvin Ailey dance company took to the stage to show us how it’s done. A beautiful performance.

Dancing for Their Lives…

Ellenore is up first and she was her quirky self. I don’t fear for Ellenore at all. The judges wouldn’t send her home.  I also think her partner Ryan will be safe even if his solo was as spectacular as it could have been. Pauline on the other hand, well I don’t think we’ll be seeing any more of her past tonight.  This is not her first time in the bottom, and against the other two women tonight, I don’t think she has a chance. Her solo wasn’t really all that good. Certainly not enough to save her. As for Kevin and Peter, I think it’s going to be a tough decision. I personally think Peter is a more diverse dancer, but I’m not sure if they will keep him over Kevin who really didn’t deserve to be in the bottom this week. Although you know how I hate the mic’d floor, there’s no denying that Peter is entertaining, but he was the weakest of the three tappers on the show this season.  Karen, who probably would could have walked out on the stage and sat on the floor and still be safe, was her sexy self during her solo.  And the final guy dancing solo tonight, Kevin, was much better than I thought he would be.

Who will be going home tonight?  While the judges are conferring, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Pauline and Peter will be going home tonight.

The Judges Decision…

The judges have decided to send Pauline and Peter home tonight.

So there you go. Did the judges sent the right guy and girl home tonight? Were the right couples in the bottom tonight?

I think i might be the laziest person in the world. I am lying on my couch, and i can see that this show is recording, but the TV is off, and the remote is SO far away…all the way over by the OTHER couch. So i’ll be counting on this live blog, for awhile.
I like Pauline and Peter, so I am nervous they are in the bottom three. Because I don’t see Ryan or Ellenore going home.

I’m half-watching this (along with the CMA Awards), but so far my favourites are safe, and I’m happy about that. Nigel is pissing me off, however. What else is new??

Sarah – love it! So funny.

I fear for Pauline for sure. I can’t see her staying over Ellenore or Karen. And while I think Ryan is staying for sure, I think it might be Peter going home over Kevin. We’ll see.

I don’t know, I actually like the girls in the bottom three … but I think Karen might be going home. As for guys … Peter or Kevin going home … definitely not Ryan!

Elenore gave a brilliant solo. Unless Karen totally messes up, I think Pauline (or Pawleen as Cat says) is going home. Ryan’s solo was ok, not bad not stellar, just ok.

I agree with Pauline being in trouble. It’s a shame, she’s makes me smile. I think Ryan’s solo was pretty good and smart for his style. However, Peter and Kevin have more goods – just a few minutes til we see if they deliver

Karen is so dang hot. If I was half as sexy… like Cat said it’s not fair

    8. ninjapengie on November 11th, 2009 9:48 pm

I think it could be Kevin and Pauline heading home. This is tough.

    9. Lisa on November 11th, 2009 9:49 pm

I think Pauline and Ryan may be the ones to go home.

    10. Kimber on November 11th, 2009 9:50 pm

Karen’s solo was pretty hot! And … um … did Kevin dance to a Wade Robson song? Or did I misread that?

    11. Lisa on November 11th, 2009 9:52 pm

      The judges are nuts.

    12. Kimber on November 11th, 2009 9:54 pm

Nigel’s being a total bastard tonight. What’s up?

    13. Lisa on November 11th, 2009 9:54 pm

Nigel needs to eat more bran.

    14. Lisa on November 11th, 2009 9:58 pm

      OK, off to watch GLEE.

    15. Kimber on November 11th, 2009 9:59 pm

GLEE time indeed! Buh-bye SYTYCD for another week. Woo hoo!

    16. Sarah (seeleybaby) on November 11th, 2009 10:06 pm

Ah, sad. Peter is gone. Mostly sad because this means my dad was right last week about it, and like I need another example of that in my life, haha.

I will miss him and his smile. And Pauline and her smile. Will try to comment more once i have actually seen the ep. Thanks Kath!

I don’t think I ever remember Nigel being so harsh on a single contestant ever. And I’m really disappointed because I don’t think Nathan deserved the rath he got. What was up with Nigel telling the audience to shut up. I think he needs to relax a bit. If he was that upset, he should have handed the discussion over to Adam.

    18. Patty on November 12th, 2009 1:30 am

I think the right tow of the six we got went home. I agree that Nigel was super harsh but (as I tweeted to Angie) after this summers love fest and the under performing stuff of this past summer? I’m glad he (and the other judges) are being a little ore harsh. I think we will see more growth because of it. I wonder if he was meaner to Nathan (and not Mollee) because it’s him that is carrying the couple? I think Mollee knows she is lucky to get another week. You could tell by the look on her face.l I don’t think Nathan ever doubted he was staying.

I glad my favorites are safe and the 4 that got saved get another week. excited to see what makes it to the stage next week! Do we get a podcast?

    19. ColoradoKila on November 12th, 2009 4:10 pm

I would have really liked to see Ryan go home last night. I can’t take another week of him coming out without his shirt on, and making googy eyes at his wife. Bummed it had to be Peter, but someone has to go.
