SMALLVILLE’s Erica Durance on Knowing Clark’s Secret

For SMALLVILLE’s Erica Durance (Lois), season 10 is going to be big.
In the ninth season finale, Lois pieced together that the Blur is actually Clark. So, given that this is the final year of the show, where will the duo go from there?
“I’m a huge fan of the Lois-Clark relationship and how they’ve done it the years I’ve been there,” Durance says. “This year, the flip is that she knows his secret. She’s able to support him in that and understand that he doesn’t want to tell her yet, so she’s trying to be as patient as possible. So you see a little bit of fun there in how she tries and hides that she knows [the truth].”
But just how well is Lois going to succeed at keeping his secret? After all, she didn’t grow up in that secretive environment that he did.
“I think in true Lois fashion, she’ll probably end up blurting it out to him in some terrible aggressive way,” Durance says.
And what does she think of the end of the series and what else can we expect for Lois?

I really appreciate the interview with ERica Durance. I’m dissapointed that the only thing you’ve asked her about is her knowing Clark’s secret. What about her career at the Daily Planet? What about CLARK’s career at the Daily Planet? And umm….since when can’t Lois keep secrets? She kept Oliver’s secret for 3 years and she was the one back in Season 4 who encouraged Chloe to support Clark and let him tell her his secret in his own time. Lois has a big mouth but she’s never been anything but trustworthy on the show. Very weird.
I’m thinking that when Erica says that Lois might “blurt it out” she means to CLARK. Because yes, Lois has proven herself very trustworthy over the years. She would never betray Clark’s secret. I think that when they talk about her wanting to tell someone—they are talking about her wanting to tell CLARK. Thank you for the interview with Erica. She is very sweet.
@Audrey and @M- Yeah, we were talking about her telling Clark. We know she can keep the secret from the world, but keeping it from Clark might be a slight problem.
@M Did you see the video posted after the short introduction? Marisa asked Erica *more* than just that question and the context of the last part of the introduction is made clear if you watch the video.
@Marisa Anyway, thank you very, very much Marisa! I’ve been waiting for you to post this since your part one came up! lol Next time instead of saving the best for last, start with it! haha Oh, and you asked some great questions. I love that you asked just a general “what else can you tease about the season” and it’s good to hear (even very briefly) that Lois will be doing more “undercover” work because I had been wondering (as many fans have) what Lois will be doing *outside* the ‘Lois and Clark’ relationship (which we all love). So this gave us a small taste, which is sadly *more* than what we’ve gotten elsewhere where all the questions are just “So Lois knows Clark’s secret!” lol It’s like yes, that was interesting the first time it was asked but after seeing well over a dozen interviews repeating the same question it gets rather tiresome.
Do you know, Marisa, if you’ll be interviewing Erica again before the season starts (in about 6 weeks)? I know right now they’ve just finished breaking episode 10 in the writer’s room and are probably filming the fourth episode so Erica (and the rest of the cast) should be able to tell us *more* about the season.

Well well season ten is around the corner.gotta love it.been a fan sinces day one.I think Lois will learn to keep here mouth close When it comes to the blur..As we all know ,in lois and Clark with dean Cain .she learns about Clark and they get married by season 4..it’s going to be a bang of a season.old faces .showing up.my bad ..blabbing .peace out
