SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: The Judges Talk About Eliminating Four Contestants

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE said goodbye to four contestants Thursday night and after the show, the judges were understandably a bit more somber than they were last week.

So what inspired the judges to keep Ryan and Ricky around over the four eliminated contestants? What did Nigel Lythgoe say about why they chose Kristin Chenoweth to be the guest judge next week? Why is Mary Murphy expecting some backlash from their decision? And will Debbie Reynolds be cha-cha-ing with Wadi anytime soon?

Starz released synopses of the first seven episodes of TORCHWOOD’s upcoming season this morning, which, of course, serve only to tantalize us further without giving away any major secrets. They do give some hints about the pacing of the season, the nature of the Miracle, and the depth of the conspiracy.

Summary of the summaries? It’s a lot bad news. (The writers of the individual episodes are listed in parentheses.)

If you thought CHILDRENS’ HOSPITAL couldn’t get any stranger…think again.

When I talked with Megan Mullally (Chief) after her SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE guest judging stint, she told me that the people behind the show had just thrown a party to watch a few of the crazier episodes of the season.

“Some of what they’re doing with this show is truly groundbreaking,” she explained in the video below.

Report: Lisa Edelstein Lands Multi-Episode Arc on THE GOOD WIFE

Lisa Edelstein may have recently departed from her long-time role as Lisa Cuddy on HOUSE, but that doesn’t mean television viewers won’t get a chance to see her this fall — according to TVLine, the actress has booked a multi-episode arc on the CBS series, THE GOOD WIFE.

According to TVLine, Edelstein’s new character is “a lawyer and born poker player whose sexiness is enhanced by her obvious intelligence” who may have a past with Will. Uh oh…somehow we don’t see this going over too well with Alicia.

Are you excited that Edelstein has landed a juicy new role?

Filed under #1 featured, Fox, TV News

Fox announced their 2011 premiere dates and the good news is that we’re less than three months away from some of our favorite shows returning to our television screens.

However, for fans of one show, the wait is much longer.

So when do your favorite shows premiere? And what about those new shows you’re going to become obsessed with?

Check out the official Fox press release!

“FOX has set the fall premiere dates for its new and returning series. The 2011-2012 season will kick off with the biggest night in television, the 63RD PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS, airing live in all time zones on Sunday, Sept. 18 (8:00-11:00 PM ET / 5:00-8:00 PM PT) on FOX.

GLEE and the gang from McKinley return Tuesday, Sept. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), followed by the series debut of NEW GIRL (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), the new comedy starring Zooey Deschanel (“(500) Days of Summer”) as an adorkable girl who moves in with three single guys, changing their lives in unexpected ways. The Tuesday night of comedy continues with the return of the lovably hilarious Chance family on RAISING HOPE (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT).

This fall, Wednesdays and Thursdays will never be the same after the spectacular two-night series premiere of THE X FACTOR on Sept. 21 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Sept. 22 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Hosted by Steve Jones and featuring judges Simon Cowell, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, the singing competition series will award the next superstar solo artist or breakout musical group a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. FRINGE Fridays return to mystify Sept. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following the season premiere of Gordon Ramsay’s KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

Then, on Sunday, Oct. 30 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT), catch the series premiere of ALLEN GREGORY, the new animated comedy created by and featuring the voice of Jonah Hill (“Get Him to the Greek”) that tells the story of a pretentious 7-year-old about to embark on his greatest challenge yet: attending elementary school with children his own age.

On Monday, Sept. 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) travel back in time for the special two-hour event debut of TERRA NOVA, the new epic adventure drama that follows an ordinary family on an extraordinary journey to prehistoric Earth. TERRA NOVA makes its time period premiere on Monday, Oct. 3 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), followed by the eighth season premiere of acclaimed medical drama HOUSE (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). On Wednesday, Nov. 23, get ready for the series premiere of I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT), the new family comedy starring Jaime Pressly (“My Name Is Earl”) and Katie Finneran (“Wonderfalls”) as single moms, life-long friends – and former nerds – who fear their privileged and overly indulged daughters are turning out just like the mean girls who picked on them in high school.

In addition, COPS will enter its 24th season Saturday, Sept. 10 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT), and AMERICA’S MOST WANTED will premiere the first of its two-hour quarterly specials Saturday, Oct. 29 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

Lots of new shows tonight! Whether it’s series premieres (EXPEDITION IMPOSSIBLE, SUITS and WILFRED), season premieres (BURN NOTICE, ROOKIE BLUE and LOUIE) or just a new episode (4 dancers are leaving SYTYCD!), there’s a ton to choose from this fine Thursday evening.

Read on to find out more!

So You Think You Can Dance | 8pm on Fox
“4 of 20 Voted Off”
The first contestants from the Top 20 will be eliminated from the race for the title of America’s Favorite Dancer. Find out who is safe and who will be sent home.

Wipeout | 8pm on ABC | Timeslot Premiere
“Hotties versus Nerds”
The summer premiere boasts an epic battle of the sexes — with a twist — pitting 12 of the most beautiful hotties against 12 of the geekiest nerds in a rivalry as old as time, as they hit the field and battle it out for $50, 000. As 24 players race through the all-new qualifier, the hotties will take some amazing falls while the nerds take some blundering tumbles, but only the final three will earn a spot in the Wipeout Zone. The hotties and nerds will run through the Wipeout Carwash, which soaks up contestants before the wax is applied — Wipeout-style. After the field is narrowed to 12, Total Carnage makes its debut, a new stunt that definitely lives up to its name. A group of six will then move on to the Wipeout Play Set to see which one of the final three can bring home bragging rights and the title of Wipeout Champion.

Will Alex Wong Appear on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Season 8? Nigel Lythgoe Weighs In

When fan-favorite Alex Wong had to drop out of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE last season due to a freak injury, viewers were stunned. After all, many considered him the frontrunner, especially after his incredible hip hop routine with tWitch. Since that time, Wong had surgery and has been on the road to recovery.

But will he be returning to SYTYCD this season?

UPDATE: Click here to find out why Alex Wong will not be returning as a Season 8 All Star

Upon Wong’s exit in season 7, executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe told him he’d be welcome back to the show this year if he was up for it, but there’s been no word on whether he’d appear.

I caught up with Lythgoe after last week’s non-elimination show and he gamely gave Give Me My Remote an update on Wong’s status with the show…

THE VOICE coach Blake Shelton had a pretty good live performance show this week: not only did he take the stage to sing his new single “Honey Bee” — with some assistance from Team Blake — but Team Blake-r Dia Frampton’s version of “Losing My Religion” was one of the biggest hits of the night.

When Shelton talked with reporters after the show, he spoke candidly about his original country bias when picking his team and the strength of what remains of Team Blake. Plus, what will it take to win it all?
