THE FINDER: BONES’ John Francis Daley to Guest Star

September 29, 2011 by

How many hours we get of BONES this season may be up in the air, but one thing is for certain — fans of the Fox drama will get a dose of John Francis Daley (Sweets) on an upcoming episode of the show’s quasi-spinoff, THE FINDER.

Last night, THE FINDER executive producer Dan Sackheim tweeted a photo of Daley on set with THE FINDER stars Geoff Stults and Michael Clarke Duncan, and BONES/THE FINDER creator Hart Hanson retweeted the picture with the comment, “See anyone you recognize from Bones?”

Fox has confirmed to Give Me My Remote that Daley will appear in THE FINDER’s fifth episode, which is currently being filmed.

When Hanson talked with us last month about a potential BONES-THE FINDER crossover, he was hesitant to reveal the exact nature of what he had in mind, but he did note that “Sweets is somebody who tends to evaluate people to see if they are competent to work in federal agencies.”

Perhaps this has something to do with the case of the week that Walter is working on? As we reported last week, former THE X-FILES star Mitch Pileggi is appearing in the same episode as a former cop-turned-death row inmate. That kind of red tape could possibly lead Walter to try and get some proper clearance. Hm…

Are you excited to see Sweets interact with Walter? Will you watch Daley’s episode of THE FINDER?

This might make up for him being missing on Bones’ “The Finder” episode.

I don’t care for The Finder, but for Sweets, I will be watching!!! <3

I won’t be watching. I’m pretty sure we’ll be getting more Sweets than my dentist and physician would recommend on the first half of the S07 of Bones. Also, the only Bones related person that would make me tune in on The Finder is the only one that won’t be guesting on it, at least on the near future – Emily Deschanel.

If the new series means less Bones then I don’t want it at all — they through Bones onto any night of the week and we’re supposed to find it to watch — we have been very loyal and done that — we’ve chaned week nights on a weekly basis — we’ve changed times shown — but to take away our show and replace it — can’t’ this new show stand alone and leave Bones alone????

I don’t watch the Finder but I am OBSESSED with “Bones”!!! It’s the greatest crime show EVER! Screw Criminal Minds, CSI ect, “Bones” is the best, hands down! Then “Monk”. I love Sweets in “Bones” how he always makes Brennan say, “I hate pyschology.” Anyone else thinks Sweets is super cute besides me? I may watch this for Sweets but other him, I can care less about the finder. GO BONES!!!!!!!! CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW SEASON NOV 3RD!!!!!

I thought the Finder was really bad. Poorly acted by smartass actors cruising along for non-funny laughs, cliched, boring & predictable. I was really irritated that it replaced 90% of a Bones episode, and in the end it contributed to the feel of that whole Bones season as being a poorly judged and badly written unco-ordinated pile of crap.

…next time i’ll tell you what i really think, i won’t hold back. LOL

And, no i certainly won’t be watching the Finder. And if it crosses over into Bones and wastes my time i will avoid watching the episodes where it does that and i will rubbish it on forums til i’m blue in the face. Sorry, but i was gravely insulted by such trash being inserted in what had been one of my fave shows. Thats what u get, Bones people… you let us down…. you mucked with something special…. don’t bloody do it again.

@Mypagetoo – The Finder is only going to be airing in the Bones timeslot because Bone will be on Hiatus because of Emily’s pregnancy/maternity leave. Bones isn’t being “taken away” by anyone. They are just filming less episodes to accommodate Emily. Now I personally think they could do some episodes without here…. but that is just me I guess…

The Finder is going to have a hard time trying to get Bones fans to watch. The shows are nothing alike. Yet, we’re told that it’s a “spinoff”? I watched the pilot and expected, and watched, a “crash and burn”. As much as I like Sweets, it ain’t happening. No Finder for me, would rather stay lost.

While I don’t think the pilot/crossover did either show any favors, (I was annoyed at how that particular Bones episode seemed a bit ‘wishy washy’), I AM intrigued to see how The Finder pans out. The concepts they have for the show are interesting, e.g. the oddball ways of discovering & following clues; using more of the brain’s capacity than normal but at a cost; interwoven, complicated relationships etc. I’ll watch anything til they’re proven unworthy though lol.
Plus come on – Michael Clarke Duncans in it! 🙂

I have to agree with many of the other comments posted. I found The Finder pilot to be very boring and that the writing was not up to the same standards as Bones. I happen to be a fan of John Francis Daley so I will be watching the fifth episode, however having characters of Bones crossing over to The Finder may not be enough to save the series.

  14. Laura on September 30th, 2011 1:50 pm

I bet that Bones will be ending after season 7….. by having some cross over
with the Finder….. The Bones actors can have steady work after Bones.
After all most if not all of Bones actors are type cast and will find it hard
finding other acting jobs outside of the Bones/Finder series.

Also, I have no intention of watching The Finder…..

I think “The Finder” is going to be great – I just watched the pilot on TNT a couple of nights ago. I have loved Sweets (Daily) since “Freeks and Geeks” and can’t wait to see him with “The Finder” who obviously has some paranoia issues – Yes, I’ll miss “Bones” but “The Finder” has a “Bonsey” feel about it so I’ll be satisfied and there are always the reruns on TNT.
