About Last Night…SUBURGATORY, DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23 and REVENGE

April 19, 2012 by

Is there any night of television that isn’t a nightmare in terms of fitting it all in anymore. I went out for work and when I got home, I wasn’t even able to catch up on half of my Wednesday shows. Eek.

Let’s talk about a few things that did go down last night…

Last night’s SUBURGATORY was the perfect mix of homage to the ’90s (Hanson! Alicia Silverstone+CLUELESS references…still giddy over the Cranberries and the “suck or blow” joke.) and actual story movement. It was great to see Mr. Wolfe and his partner finally on more stable footing, even if it did take a “rescued” dog to do it. As for the show’s main storyline of the episode, quite frankly, the thought of Noah with a newborn is terrifying. Eden being their surrogate was an unexpected twist…I’m really interested to see where the relationship between her and George goes, because they were just utterly charming together.

Speaking of charming relationships, I am SO DISTURBED by how much I liked the dynamic between June and Chloe’s father. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Of course, that was  before the reveals that he was sort of an ass and certainly still married to Chloe’s mother. But still. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. EW. (And James Van Der Beek’s Dawson frustrations were amazing in this episode. I know it’s not going to be a theme going forward, but I’m glad we got tonight’s antics before they did away with them.)

Was anyone else underwhelmed by REVENGE? Maybe it was the five million weeks off, but I felt like I was expecting more from the episode. However, Emily kicking major butt at the end was pretty awesome.

I only got to watch the end of AMERICAN IDOL due to a full TiVo and covering an event last night, but what I saw in the recaps looked OK, not great. (Please, can we STOP WITH THE ADELE SONGS?!?) And was FRINGE’s John Noble actually shown on screen, or was he just there to watch the show?

Enough from me…what did you watch last night?

I thought Revenge was a good episode and a necessary one given the LONG hiatus. Emily Thorne kicking ass and naming names was fan-freakin-tastic!

I tried “B in Apt 23” again (I really disliked the pilot!) and I still don’t think that I will be a fan/regular viewer (I miss “Happy Endings”!) but the Dawson’s stuff was terrific!

Did you see “Modern Family” Marisa? It did it again with the laughs (well, some laughs) and then the “tear to your eye” moments that they sneak in at the end. (No spoilers in case you haven’t seen it!)

@Kath: Sadly, no MF for me. 🙁 Hope to catch up this weekend.

Suburgatory is a show I am totally loving, and I about died when Dalia told Dallas that Yakult (or whatever) had been living as a gay male dog in East Chatswin. Hahahaha! Dalia cracks me up–everyone cracks me up really, but she made me laugh the most.

I agree with Kath about TBiA23, it’s just not doing it for me.
