CHICAGO FIRE: Miranda Rae Mayo on Stella’s New Job Opportunity

After a season of drama, CHICAGO FIRE’s Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) are in a “good place.” But there could be some changes to their professional relationship.

“She is approached by Boden to represent the entire district at this leadership conference,” Mayo tells reporters in the video below. “And she is completely taken aback; Stella would have been happy just being at Firehouse 51, because it’s the best firehouse in the city. She is growing and learning and evolving every shift as a firefighter. But to have somebody approach her like Boden, we see her doubt herself, we see her struggle. We see that we get a little insight into what it’s been like to come up as a woman in the CFD…we also see an opening within her psyche about what’s possible for herself.”

Thankfully, Severide is there for her. “We see Severide support her every step of the way,” she continues. “I really think this season we really see that he’s a man of his word [and he’s going to be the man she deserves]; we see him follow through on that.”
