CHICAGO FIRE: Miranda Rae Mayo and Taylor Kinney on a Potential Stellaride Proposal

Before CHICAGO FIRE’s season kicked off, showrunner Derek Haas teased it would be a big season for Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), and while he wouldn’t promise an engagement was forthcoming, he did share in January that “I would not close the lid on their relationship progressing before the end of the year.”

Whether it happens in the near future—or at some point later—the actors are game for it.”It would just be fun to get proposed to,” Mayo said with a laugh to reporters in the video below. “That would be really fun.”

“That’s so girly,” Kinney joked.

“It’s my dream situation,” Mayo continued. “There’s this beautiful man, the words are written, he says all of the right things, puts the ring on my finger, I get to wear a dress, I get to pretend, and then I get to go home and be in my house and sleep in my bed. It’s actually perfect for me.”

And though Severide has been engaged and married on the show, Kinney said he’d be game to finally get to do an actual proposal. “He’s gotten married, but…we didn’t shoot it and there wasn’t any other proposal,” he said. “So as a performer, I think it would be great. And the writers [could go all out], just because Miranda and I both are regulars, so we’re on all the time, [and] it wouldn’t be a quick kind of shotgun thing in Vegas; I think they’d take their time with it. And you could incorporate the entire cast. I think it would be fun…they could go a lot of different ways with it.”
