ABC’s Sunday night lineup is colliding on April 5, when THE ROOKIE is called to AMERICAN IDOL auditions.

According to the network, in “The Overnight,” “Officers Chen and Bradford respond to a call at the Los Angeles auditions of AMERICAN IDOL, and Officer Chen ends up facing Ryan Seacrest and the judges (Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie).” (Fun fact: Melissa O’Neil, who plays Lucy Chen, previously competed on CANADIAN IDOL.)

The episode will also include a guest spot by Roselyn Sanchez, who is the real-life wife of Eric Winter (who plays Tim Bradford). Sanchez, who most recently starred in ABC’s GRAND HOTEL, will play Valerie Castillo, a reporter who befriends Lucy.

“[Showrunner] Alexi [Hawley] is dying to get [her] on,” Winter previously shared. “He’s like, ‘Do you think she’ll do this role?’ And let’s make it a role that counts, where she can jump into it and have fun.”

Are you excited to see how IDOL and THE ROOKIE collide?

it should probably be noted that she didn’t just compete on Canadian idol, she WON! there’s a pretty big difference between competing and winning for sure
