PRISON BREAK: Dominic Purcell Says Season 6 is ‘Not Going to Happen’

PRISON BREAK—at least with original stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell—is finished, Purcell revealed on Instagram.

“PRISON BREAK [season] 6 is not going to happen,” he said in the video below. “I had a long, long talk with Wentworth and his reasonings as for why he doesn’t want to partake in PRISON BREAK 6 are so honorable and fully legit. And I cannot persuade—nor would I even attempt to persuade—him to betray his truth. So, that’s it. 6 isn’t going to happen. And if it does happen, it’s not going to happen with myself or Wentworth, because I’m loyal to Wentworth.” (In addition to starring on PRISON BREAK together, the duo also appeared on THE FLASH and starred on LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, with Purcell still on The CW series.)

Miller, for his part, wrote, “I’m out. Of PB. Officially. Not bec of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons… I understand this is disappointing. I’m sorry.”

PRISON BREAK originally ran from 2005-2009 on Fox. The drama returned for a close-ended revival season in 2017, though Purcell repeatedly expressed interest in returning to the story for another event series. (Fox boss Charlie Collier, meanwhile, told reporters back in 2019 the network had “no plan right now to revive PRISON BREAK…But when the creators come with a story they think is the right time to tell, we’re ready to listen.”)
