THE VOICE: Nick Jonas Sets Return for Season 20

THE VOICE is reaching a special milestone with its Spring 2021 installment: Season 20!

With the big 2-0 around the corner, NBC has officially set its coaching lineup for the season: Nick Jonas (who previously coached in season 18, which concluded remotely due to COVID-19) will return to the series, along with current coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend.

Though this is Jonas’ second go-round with THE VOICE, it was actually another NBC reality series that brought him into the fold in the first place.

“The Jonas Brothers did SONGLAND last summer,” THE VOICE (and SONGLAND) showrunner Audrey Morrissey told reporters earlier this year. “We got to see firsthand how musical he is on SONGLAND. And that brought him top of mind [when we needed a new coach].”

“You’ll see it in later parts of the show,” she continued. “I don’t know if people really understand what a musical guy he is: he’s a strong writer, a strong arranger, a strong creative. The Blinds is one thing—he has nothing to do with the music. But then when you get into the later sections in the show, where he has a strong influence on the music they perform and the arrangement, he’s phenomenal.”
