THE SIMPSONS: A cable channel films a Christmas movie in Springfield and Skinner falls in love in the “A Springfield Summer Christmas for Christmas” holiday-themed episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Dec. 13 (8:00-8:31 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Guest voices Ellie Kemper and Richard Kind. THE SIMPSONS © 2020 by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

THE SIMPSONS: As someone who ::whispers:: does not love many Hallmark films, the episode was a lot. I’m glad Skinner got to have agency and reject his Hollywood would-be sweetheart versus her break his heart. But it didn’t quite work as well for me as other recent format-busting episodes, like “Homer is Where the Art Isn’t” or “22 for 30.”

SUPERMARKET SWEEP: First of all, how did a contestant only grab $700-ish worth of food? I literally watched it, but what kind of mentality went into that?!

Also, the second batch of final clues were insane. Who thinks of a BLUEBERRY as a poppin’ fruit?!?! Come on.

BOB’S BURGERS: Aww, Bob was set up in a nice way! Good for him. (Even if he was right to be paranoid.

FAMILY GUY: Wow, it was kind of jarring how easy it was for Lois to transform into a Grinch-like figure. (Also, “The First No L” is a brilliant title.)

CARD SHARKS: Joy betting half her bank on a final 7 card was…a choice. But as soon as they had her come up to turn it herself, I was a little less stressed. (BUT HOW DO YOU TAKE THAT CHANCE? THAT WAS SO MUCH MONEY.)

Also, you cannot root against Michael. I wish he had gotten more, but hopefully it’s enough for him to go spend time with his family.
