THE VOICE’s Wendy Moten got a big vote of confidence from her coach Blake Shelton on the Monday, November 8 episode of competition.

“Wendy, I’m going say this, I’m probably going to catch a lot of heat for it, but I don’t care,” Shelton said during the first live show of the season after her rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” “I’ve been doing this show for 21 seasons now as a coach, and there is nobody that I want this more for, ever, than you. You deserve this. You deserve this.”

After the show, Moten talked with reporters, and she admitted she was overwhelmed by the praise.

“I was trying to keep myself from just breaking down and just boo-hooing,” she admitted. “Because it was such a risk after everything I’ve been through to take a chance to try to be on a show like THE VOICE, in front of the world, and try to prove that I still got something to give. And when he said those words, it was validation that I do have something to give and that there is something there that’s special…his validation like that, it’s so firm that it makes me want to cry. So I’m thankful.”
