Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: This was a good start to the season! Avery Dixon’s Golden Buzzer performance was incredible—and heartbreaking/heartwarming. Veranica and her dogs (including the quick change?!) were so much fun. Lee Collinson was great. The Pack was so much fun. And…there was a song about freaking Parmesan cheese. (I wonder at what point in the audition day that was, to be frank, because I get the audience having fun with it, but going that bonkers for it felt quasi-like end-of-the-day madness.)

Celia Munoz, Mervant Vera and Shu Takada are acts I liked a lot, but I’m really curious to see their second performance. With Takada, it feels like he’s going to have to escalate a lot, if he’s going to headline a show. The other acts…they’re undoubtedly good, but once the gimmick is revealed, what’s next? Do they keep playing the same, figurative, beats?

THE CHASE: Considering there were only two of them playing in the final round (and the cash builder didn’t go great), Emily and John did an incredible job taking on Buzzy Cohen. And for a bit, it actually seemed like they might defeat him; I’m always hoping the contestants can pull it off, and was bummed they couldn’t pull out a miracle.
