About Last Night…THE VOICE and QUANTUM LEAP

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: Ah, THE VOICE is back—I did miss it.

Morgan’s version of “Hallelujah” was incredible, and it was kind of bonkers we started the season with Camila blocking Gwen—successfully. And then Camila got a second four-chair turn. (Frankly, I actually appreciate the four-chair turns a lot. If someone is good, and they often are, battle it out! And give the contestant the choice, too.)

But, still, I hate the cliffhanger endings. And I still miss Kelly Clarkson—I really wish she and Camila had done the show at the same time, especially with their similar history on a singing competition show.

QUANTUM LEAP: As someone who, admittedly, never saw the original series (I know, I know), I was curious how I would feel about this show given the really delicate line they’re toeing. It’s not entirely a clean slate, but they’re also tied to the original show’s mythology. (And, seemingly, without the original star coming back.)

One episode in, I enjoyed it…but I also enjoyed the characters and their dynamic a lot more than I was invested in the case. Lord knows I’ve watched shaky shows with great characters and so-so cases, but, generally, a pilot at least needs to pop. This had different circumstances with BTS changes, so maybe this isn’t a real good representative of what the show will be. But I’m cautiously in so far.
