ABC Teases 2023 Returns of the THE ROOKIE Franchise, ABBOTT ELEMENTARY, and More

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY – “Story Samurai” – A traveling storytelling troupe Jacob used to be in visits Abbott Elementary for a day of education and entertainment. Jacob can’t wait to share this part of his past with his colleagues; but when he realizes they think the performers are corny, Janine does her best to help him embrace his nerdy side. Meanwhile, Melissa struggles with the new normal of her combined second and third grade class when “Abbott Elementary” airs WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5 (9:00-9:31 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/Gilles Mingasson)

ABC is kicking off its midseason with a crossover between THE ROOKIE and THE ROOKIE: FEDS, the series premiere of WILL TRENT, and the ABBOTT ELEMENTARY cast on CELEBRITY WHEEL OF FORTUNE.

Here’s what to expect when ABC returns with new shows in January…

TUESDAY, JAN. 3

8:00-9:00 p.m. – THE ROOKIE: ‘The List” (510)

Detective Nyla Harper and James find themselves in the middle of a bank robbery which leads the entire team on a citywide manhunt. Meanwhile, Tim and Lucy finally go on their first date, but it does have a few complications. (TV-14, V)

“The List” was written by Vincent Angell and directed by Robert Bella.

9:00-10:00 p.m. – THE ROOKIE: FEDS: “The Silent Prisoner” (110)

A mysterious caller threatens to reveal a leaked list of undercover FBI agents if a prisoner is not released. After an exposed agent is mortally wounded, the team identifies the caller and heads to the Port of Los Angeles to secure the release of the prisoner. Later, Simone enlists John Nolan to help her remodel Cutty’s garage into a living space; and Brendon, ready to confess his feelings to Antoinette, discovers she has feelings for someone else.

10:00-11:00 p.m. – WILL TRENT: “Pilot” (101) (Series Premiere)

When a murder investigation reveals there’s more to the story than meets the eye, Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) relies on his keen instincts and unique experience to uncover the truth. Along the way, he also reunites with a part of his past that helped shape him into the agent he is now.

“Pilot” was written by Liz Heldens and Daniel Thomsen, and directed by Paul McGuigan. 

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 4

8:00-9:00 p.m. – CELEBRITY WHEEL OF FORTUNE: “Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Chris Perfetti” (313)  

Hosted by pop-culture legends Pat Sajak and Vanna White, “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” takes a star-studded spin on America’s Game®. The stars of ABC’s smash hit comedy “Abbott Elementary” will spin the world’s most famous Wheel and solve puzzles for a chance to win more than $1 million for a charity of their choice.

This episode’s celebrity contestants include Janelle James (playing for Innocence project), Sheryl Lee Ralph (playing for DonorsChoose) and Chris Perfetti (playing for GLSEN) from the cast of “Abbott Elementary.”  

9:00-9:31 p.m. – ABBOTT ELEMENTARY: “Read-a-Thon” (211)

The competition heats up between Melissa and Janine as their classrooms go head-to-head in a read-a-thon sponsored by a local pizza shop. Both teachers encourage their students to hit the books hard but face some unexpected obstacles on their path to pizza glory. Meanwhile, Jacob and Gregory join forces and attempt to get their student-podcasting club off the ground.

“Read-A-Thon” was written by Garrett Werner and directed by Dime Davis. 

9:31-10:00 p.m. – HOME ECONOMICS: “Gallon of Milk, $4.35” (311)

After Marina begins working with a hunky new contractor, Tom’s envy causes him to overcompensate. Meanwhile, Connor involves Denise in his scheme to impress a new woman.

“Gallon of Milk, $4.35” was written by Glenn Boozan and directed by Jay Chandrasekhar. 

10:00-11:00 p.m. – BIG SKY: DEALDY TRAILS: “Super Foxes” (311)



THURSDAY, JAN. 5

8:00-9:00 p.m. – CELEBRITY JEOPARDY!: “Quarterfinal #7: Michael Cera, Brianne Howey and Zoe Chao” (109) 

9:00-10:00 p.m. – THE PARENT TEST: “Stranger Danger” (102)

Intensive, natural, routine and New Age parenting styles are put to the test when families take on the Fine Dining Challenge and the Home Alone Challenge. The pressure of social settings and the unfamiliar collide – which styles best help their kids adapt? And safety comes to the forefront when the kids are met with an unexpected visitor.

10:00-11:00 p.m. – THE CHASE: “As RuPaul Says, The Library is Open” (320) 

FRIDAY, JAN. 6

8:00-9:01 p.m. – SHARK TANK: “1410” (1410)

Gwyneth Paltrow, CEO and founder of lifestyle juggernaut Goop, makes her first appearance in the Tank as a guest Shark. First into the Tank is an entrepreneur from San Francisco who hopes the stacks are in his favor with his healthier version of a favorite breakfast indulgence. A husband-and-wife team from Austin, Texas, introduce their elevated product designed to keep your beverages crisp and cool, while entrepreneurs from New York City yearn to wrap up a deal with their low-calorie superfood alternative. Last into the Tank is an entrepreneur from Los Angeles, California, who wants to help change the world with her eco-friendly version of a baby product.  

The Sharks in this episode are Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner and guest Shark Gwyneth Paltrow.
