About Last Night…AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: ALL-STARS and QUANTUM LEAP

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: ALL-STARS: Oy, this was a really, really, really, really rough episode, because there were too many good options. (I mean, uh, there was one exception, but that’s fine.)

I truly don’t get how Jasper Cherry didn’t even make the Top 3??? I can’t begrudge Tom Ball from getting the Golden Buzzer—he was incredible—but Cherry was the act of the night for me. But, man, a half-dozen of those acts could have easily made it through.

QUANTUM LEAP: Oh, this was a fun, fun twist on a leap! And an interesting way to deploy this trope to allow for the main characters to all know and go through their own things, while still playing into the sci-fi fun. Because, wow, that scene when Ben “died” the first time? OW. The cast—but especially Caitlin Bassett—was just stunning as they faced one of their worst fears. As gutting as it was, it was one of my favorite scenes from the show so far.

And bravo to Raymond Lee who had to inhabit so many different characters in a single episode. It couldn’t have been easy, but he played it well. A really solid return back, this is in my top 2-3 episodes of the show so far.
