GRACE PARK, SAM PANCAKE, CAMERON ESPOSITO

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

THE MASKED SINGER: I still hate this format. This was a fun, mindless recap-adjacent hour. (But, yes, California Roll is absolutely Pentatonix.)

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: Well. I cried. A lot.

I’ll start with the happy: I’m absolutely delighted by Katherine and Greta’s gorgeous wedding. I never would have foreseen Katherine being part of one of my favorite couples on the show back when it started (sorry to her and Eddie), but the love story we got to witness between Katherine and Greta was gorgeous, layered, and earned. Seeing the friends come together to throw them a last-minute perfect wedding? My heart. This show is at its very best when the friend group is actually together, and this was so very good. (And Greta wearing Katherine’s father’s suit? Again, my heart.) To their forever love…may nothing give them hardship in these final episodes.

I’m also thrilled that Eddie and Delilah are finally acknowledging, uh, yeah, they didn’t have an affair because they were, like, bored…they fell for each other. They couldn’t really dig into a lot of that early in the series because he was married and she was dealing with the loss of Jon, but they were serious. It feels like a natural place for them to end up.

But Gary. Oh, Gary. I’ve been fearing the series would end with his death since I spoke with series creator DJ Nash pre-season and he mentioned, “I’m not sure everyone will love every single story turn we take this year, but I hope that all of them will understand and feel that they’re authentic.” And, look, you don’t have to have watched hundreds of hours of medical dramas to know that coughing up blood is a pretty freaking bad thing.

I hope, somehow, this isn’t it. If he has to die, we jump forward a decade or two; he gets to see his son grow up a little bit more. (And, yes, I’m very aware this sounds like I’m in the bargaining portion of my grief over a fictional character.)

But, yeah…I’m guessing the final two episodes will make me cry even more.
