THE MASKED SINGER and A MILLION LITTLE THINGS

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS – “no place like home” – Maggie and Gary explore the possibility of a home birth, while Regina and Rome adjust to life with their new roommate. Katherine and Greta reach a crossroads in their relationship. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC. (ABC/Sergei Bachlakov)
ALLISON MILLER, JOHANNA BRADDY

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

THE MASKED SINGER: This was a bit more immersive than I expected. (Though I’m very grateful it wasn’t so superhero-themed that it was only theme songs.) Some of the DC elements were cringe-y—because they didn’t feel natural—but it was a good group of performances.

And, man, poor Michael Bolton. He hasn’t had the most success on reality shows lately. (But, truly, how did anyone not know that was him? I don’t think I’ve ever been sure of a contestant’s identity faster.)

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: Sophie and Walter’s storyline was an unexpectedly sweet combo. I’m really glad we got to see Walter outside of Rome and Regina, because we know what that dynamic was like. Seeing him with Sophie, who has her own experience with dementia within her family, was a beautiful surprise.

I understand there needs to be drama within the Gary/Maggie pregnancy, but I hope this “is home birth bad?” debate is over. He was wrong to be so stubborn about it (her birthing experience, it SHOULD be her choice), but she also came it very casually, and it didn’t feel exactly earned, either. I get where she’s coming from after the amount of time they spent in hospitals, but if this was actually something she was considering, she probably should have, uh, thought about it before she was this pregnant?

I’ll admit I’m worried about this Eddie storyline, though. His professor is understandably unimpressed, and while I don’t want her to push him out of school, I’m also hoping they don’t go down the cliche path of pairing them off.

Greta and Katherine are just so, so great. PROTECT THEM, WRITERS, PLEASE.
