Though KILLING IT’s Craig (Craig Robinson) found success in season 1—via a snake hunting contest—but it cost him something very important: His relationship with his brother.

“I told Isaiah to go on the run—I told him to run because the turning in the snake that that’s gonna win us the 20 grand [would implicate Isaiah in a murder],” Robinson explains to Give Me My Remote in the video below. “I’m trying to save his life and his freedom.”

In season 2, the duo is estranged, with Craig in the dark about where Isaiah (Rell Battle) is even hiding out. “My brother, I feel, betrayed me,” Battle says. “I don’t want to talk to him. I’m giving him the silent treatment…[attempting to] turn over a new leaf and live a different life, but certain issues of the past bring me back into Craig’s world.”

For Craig, the prize money did net him some success, but “it gets snatched away from me very quickly.”

“He’s very excited and then he gets some bad news,” Robinson previews. “It’s a challenge. We’re gonna be able to get past it…he’s just waiting on that first big check [from selling these] berries. And then another challenge comes in and another challenge. And so he finds…he can’t get ahead. He’s just almost in quicksand, trying to pull himself out. And then another challenge happens…there’s some things he’s gonna have to go through if he’s going to expect to win at all this season.”

Things are equally complicated for Isaiah. “I’m on the run. I’m on the low. I’m on the lam. I’m in Phoenix,” Battle says in character. “I started the whole new life: got my lady, I got my boy Dame with me…we think we’re gonna just chill and live a peaceful life. I got a whole new job. I’m trying to walk the straight and narrow.”

“I just want to get out of that life and just be a good dude,” he continues. “But, man, the past haunts me and I’m still upset. I’m still bitter about what my big bro did to me. …because of my past, I can’t let a lot of the issues I had go. I still got pain from my father. And I’m still expressing it in a negative way. And I want to make Craig suffer. I wanna make anybody who hurt me suffer. And I’m just trying to still grow in a sense, in a hilariously ridiculous way.”
