Love—past and present—is in the air on CHICAGO MED…whether the doctors want it to be or not.

For Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), her ex-husband’s health issues take center stage as she’s trying to move on with a new love.

“Well, it creates a lot of headaches for her, conflict in their lives,” CHICAGO MED executive producer Andrew Schneider tells Give Me My Remote. ”This is a woman who has to run a hospital. She has her own new romantic relationship which is going well. Her children have their own lives. So she feels like the burden of her ex-husband’s illness is all on her.”

As work chaos ensues, “she insists on maintaining her position and being responsible, but it causes a lot of stress in her life,” Scheider previews. “Having a new relationship, we’ll see a whole new side of her. At the same time being hit with her ex-husband’s illness..there’s a lot to explore.”

And there’s another new relationship blooming that kicks off on the Wednesday, February 21 episode: Archer (Steven Weber) crosses paths with a new woman who catches his eye.

“We’re creating a new relationship for Dr. Archer,” Schneider says. “It impacts the relationship he has with his son. We think that’s a very interesting dynamic…She’s also a doctor, an addiction specialist and she runs the Sober Living Center where Sean works.”

CHICAGO MED, Wednesdays, 8/7c, NBC
