CHICAGO MED’s Nick Gehlfuss and Jessy Schram on Will and Hannah’s Relationship: ‘It’s Still Unfolding’

CHICAGO MED’s Hannah (Jessy Schram) and Will (Nick Gehlfuss) have an extremely complex history (a whirlwind relationship, while she was also struggling with addiction), but now the duo are in a solid place…and trying to figure out what comes next.

“We’re starting off on a blank slate, or as much of a blank slate as we could possibly have,” Schram told reporters in the video below. “A history, but really looking at each other how we are in the moment without so much past attached to it.”

“Hannah’s growing within the workplace, aside from being connected to Will, [and he is] dealing with the shortages a little bit more intensely than I am,” she continues. “We interact, and it’s all within a professional realm—it’s still unfolding. And I think it is that element of when they’re writing us together, [they’re] seeing what’s unfolding, and how that’s playing. Because it really can go any direction, seeing as they have such a strong history. And now they’re in a space where they respect each other, and they’re moving on from here. So we’re playing on an even playing field right now.”

“Part of that is giving each other a little space,” added Gehlfuss. “And starting off as friends. But it’s obviously going to be tricky. They have a bond that will be there forever, given what they’ve been through.”
