CHICAGO MED — “A Penny for your Thoughts, Dollar for your Dreams” Episode 9008 — Pictured: (l-r) Kristof Konrad as Pawel Wapniarski, Luke Mitchell as Dr. Mitch Ripley, Alet Taylor as Liliana Wapniarski– (Photo by: George Burns Jr/NBC)

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

CHICAGO MED: A really, really good episode. First of all, Liliana’s brother is scum, and I assume this is going to mean the (eventual) end of the relationship between Charles/Liliana. But yikes to him intentionally trying to torpedo the hospital for a quick buck.

I also really loved how they handled the case with the telepathic father. He was ultimately right about his son needing help, but there may be a medical condition…one the man didn’t want to acknowledge. The doctors had to try and guide him to testing, but when he refused, they also had to be okay with not knowing if their instinct was correct. (I’m torn between hoping we see him again and hoping they’re wrong.)

Also: Ripley and Hannah! Loving this couple so far. (Also really loved Maggie and Hannah’s girl talk. More of that, please.)

THE MASKED SINGER: Billy Bush? Pass.

CHICAGO FIRE: Things just felt…off…this episode. Robinson remains trash. And I’m glad people caught on that Gibson wasn’t okay and he asked for help, but the whole subplot felt very unearned/random.

FAMILY GUY: Of course Meg’s lifeguard job was going to go terribly, but I did not see it falling apart because she had to give Peter CPR.

CHICAGO P.D.:  I’m really, really thankful we got Upton for a full final season, but it is kind of crazy that this is the first time we’ve really checked in with her since the premiere and the hardships there. (I get it; I get how the show is formatted.) I really enjoyed her partnership with Petrovic*—and the episode as a whole—but a part of me wishes that if this was Upton’s last big solo episode, we got to see her with people we/she loves. (Unless we’re supposed to be reading into her going into the SVU field post-Intelligence.)

I just really hope, when this season does end, Upton does get some version of a happy ending. I’m glad she stopped running, literally and figuratively, but she deserves more.

*She’s been in SVU a decade?! She would get along with a few NYC cops…
