Hello BACKSTROM fans! It’s hard to believe we are in the final half of season 1. I have to say that the past couple of episodes, including this one — “Love is a Rose and You Better Not Pick It” — have been great, and the show’s style has been more successful lately. I would be glad to see this show renewed for a second season. Until any announcement has been made one way or the other, let’s discuss this episode! Read more

BACKSTROM revealed a secret romance in last night’s episode, “Ancient, Chinese, Secret.”
According to series star Kristoffer Polaha (Niedermeyer), the seeds were planted from the start, as he told his co-star, Beatrice Rosen (Paquet) they should just play that there was something there. And, voilà!
On the show’s Vancouver set, Polaha spoke with reporters about the romantic revelation…and, after learning what the term “shipper” means, tried to help brainstorm what the couple’s name should be…

On tonight’s episode of BACKSTROM, the team investigates the death of a Chinese fortune teller…and, naturally, as they work through the case — and deal with alleged psychics — secrets are being revealed about members of the SCU.
As the cast of BACKSTROM filmed “Ancient, Chinese, Secret,” they took some time out of their production schedule to speak with reporters on the show’s Vancouver set to tease the hour…

Think you know the new Fox series, BACKSTROM? Well, just wait until you hear the cast and creator Hart Hanson attempt to explain it.
In the (hilarious) exclusive video below, the cast — Rainn Wilson, Dennis Haysbert, Genevieve Angelson, Kristoffer Polaha, Page Kennedy, Beatrice Rosen, and Thomas Dekker — and Hanson share their pitches for the show, but can’t get it quite right. There are a lot of giggles, pitches to show Wilson’s butt on network TV, some misspeaking (nope, this isn’t taking place in the “special victims unit”), a ton of poking fun at each other, and general hilarity.
Just try to watch this video and keep a straight face… Read more

BACKSTROM’s title character is in hot water.
While viewers know that Backstrom shot a suspect (and himself) in the show’s pilot, his claim that it was a justified shooting — and that Visser shot him — is being investigated by the Civilian Oversight Committee…led by Backstrom’s ex-fiancee, Amy (Sarah Chalke).
When the two go head-to-head in this exclusive clip from Thursday’s episode, “I Am A Bird Now,” Backstrom, originally, tries to get out of the situation by going over his police statement — which Amy rebuffs — and then he attempts sarcasm. But when Amy emphasizes how serious this could be, Backstrom’s already questionable health takes a turn.
Take a look at what goes down in Thursday’s opening scene…

Hello BACKSTROM Viewers!
What did you think of this pilot episode? It immediately began by showing Portland Detective Everett Backstrom (Rainn Wilson) visiting Dr. Deb, and we learn (amongst various racial allusions from Backstrom) that the detective has been relegated to traffic duty for a few years because of his health. Deb warns him of the dangers of his physical eating and drinking habits and gives him an unusual prescription: make a friend within a week.
They are interrupted by Officer Moto, who takes Backstrom to a crime scene being worked by Portland’s newly formed Special Crimes Unit, including Nicole Gravely (Genevieve Angelson) and John Almond (Dennis Haysbert) and Forensics Peter Neidermeyer (Kristopher Polaha).
