Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Monday, January 19, 2009

January 19, 2009 by

Time to clean out the TiVo because you’ve got a lot of TV ahead of you tonight. Are you prepared? I can’t say that I am, but I’m going to try my very best.

If the normal Monday lineup wasn’t crowded enough, Fox has decided to move HOUSE to Monday nights.  I can’t say that I’m too pleased with Fox right now.  Seriously, Mondays?!  As much as I love HOUSE it might be regulated to ‘watching online’.  What?  What am I supposed to give up? Chuck? Gossip Girl? The Big Bang Theory? How I Met Your Mother?  It’s just all too overwhelming.

What will YOU be watching tonight?

The Bachelor | 8pm on ABC
Jason surprises one of the single mothers by inviting her child to join them for a day out; Jason and one of the women enjoy a private performance by Kate Voegele; the women are asked to speak honestly about each other at the rose ceremony.

The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS
“The Friendship Algorithm”
Here’s a conundrum to baffle the guys: Sheldon’s intelligence, which renders him socially awkward, is also the source of his new scientific procedure for making friends.

House | 8pm on Fox
“Painless”
House and the team try to diagnose a man living with severe, chronic pain; Thirteen and Foreman explore their complicated relationship; Cuddy discovers that caring for her baby leaves her with little time to run the hospital.

Gossip Girl | 8pm on The CW
“You’ve Got Yale!”
Constance Billard and St. Jude’s students find out who is worthy of early admission to Yale University; Serena bonds with a new teacher (Laura Breckenridge); Chuck teams up with an unlikely ally in his war against Jack. [GMMR: With all the Gossip Girls fans on this site I thought for sure someone who have something to say about the Gossip Girl Spinoff.  No?]

How I Met Your Mother | 8:30pm on CBS
“Three Days of Snow”
Lily and Marshall try to continue their airport reunion tradition; Barney and Ted offer to keep MacLaren’s open during a blizzard so they can meet up with some college girls. [GMMR: I wonder if HIMYM will gloss over the Barney/Robin story this week. I don’t want it to be the focused but I hope it’s addressed.]

The Secret Life of the American Teenager | 8pm on ABC Family
“The Father and the Son”

Ricky’s abusive dad (Bryan Callen) arrives in town with a proposal for how Ricky should handle impending fatherhood, and Amy starts to seriously consider giving the baby up for adoption

24 | 9pm on Fox
“Day 7: 12:00PM – 1:00PM”

Jack takes matters into his own hands; Renee Walker copes with a volatile investigation; Larry Moss has to keep a close eye on his team.

One Tree Hill| 9pm on The CW
“We Change, We Wait”

Lucas and Julian try to choose a director for their movie; Peyton has mixed feelings about a gift from Lucas; Brooke deals with relationship issues.

Kyle XY | 9pm on ABC Family
“Psychic Friend”
Kyle is worried about Amanda following a psychic’s dire prediction; Lori is upset by Hillary’s prom kiss with Declan. [GMMR: Anyone reading this a Kyle XY watcher? Stand up and be counted!]

Also playing…

  • Two and a Half Men | 9pm on CBS: Judith is pregnant with a baby girl and Alan is convinced he is the father; Jake is in a contentious mood and Charlie thinks he knows why.
  • Worst Week | 9:30pm on CBS: When Sam sees a litter of puppies being born, he worries he might not be able to handle the birth of his own child.
  • CSI: Miami | 10pm on CBS: When a murder occurs during a horse race, Horatio discovers that Ryan has a personal connection to the case.
  • True Beauty | 10pm on ABC: Contestants think they are competing during a photo session, but are actually being judged on compassion and sportsmanship; the losing team faces elimination in the Hall of Beauty.

GMMR’s Useless Tidbit of the Day…

“In 1801, 20 percent of the people in the United States were slaves.”

:(…..Every time I see a Monday lineup without Chuck it makes me sad. I only have three shows tonight (HIMYM, BBT and GG) and Mondays just seem empty without it. Especially when you have a really crappy Monday and you just want to go home and watch some good tv, and maybe laugh at some Chuck/Morgan/Awesome goodness, and have I mentioned that I MISS CHUCK?!?!?!

Sorry, venting over. 🙂 On the bright side, Barney Stinson is here, so yay – that’s something. And I agree with GMMR – I hope they address it at least a little, or it would just be weird. Plus, Barney’s so adorable when he’s tormented. Oh…and this is TOTALLY off topic, but did anyone catch SNL this weekend? After NPH’s awesomeness last week, wow – what a letdown!! The writing on the show is sooooo inconsistent. Weekend Update is always good, but the rest……jeez. Not even Fleet Foxes could save it.

Just started tuning into HIMYM. Well, kind of. Since Lifetime has started airing eps, that’s where I’ve caught them. But I did watch the CBS airing today too. Are you proud? It’s pretty funny but my main question is, has anyone tried the Kahlua/root beer mixture that was mentioned in a Halloween episode? Does it really taste like tootsie roll? I’m incredibly curious.
