Alex Wong Dominates (Again) on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

June 4, 2010 by

Let me start off by saying that I’ve remained UNSPOILED on this year’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Top 10…and I want to remain unspoiled. So shhhh.

At this point in time, I don’t know if Alex Wong has made the all important final cut, but I can tell you that I was blown away, once again, by his audition.

We first met Alex last season. After his jaw dropping performance he made it straight to Vegas. He survived the grueling week and made it to the final day, only to have to drop out because of his binding contract with the Miami Ballet. He was promised a bid straight to Vegas if he opted to return, and I’m so glad he did.

Check out Alex’s S7 audition, Yowza!

Alex is amazing and I’ve been dying to see him on the show since he auditioned for Season 5. I’m so disappointed that their editing keeps getting worse, though. They never show a full solo performance without cutting to the judges every few seconds. It’s jarring and annoying. I would LOVE to see a full solo performance and only have the judges reacting at the end of the performance. But I guess that is too much to ask. Anyway, I’m very happy to see Alex back.

I was also completely in love with Alex’s solo, I had already seen it on youtube (he did it in some competiton), but it was still amazing! I really hope he makes top 10. ANd I totally agree with Lelolai, the editing is annoying! Not only they show the judges too much, but why they only showed us the bad people in Nashville? Near the end I was thinking that nobody got a ticket, and then they say that 7 people got it. Why didn’t they show us that?

LOVE Alex Wong and normally he would be the one I would get behind and be a fangirl of, but this year, that title already goes to small town boy Kent Boyd! I don’t even know if he’ll be in the top 10, but sweet goodness if that boy is not a pure joy to watch- with a precious personality to match!

This season is gonna be a tough one!

While I think Alex is amazing and he is, there are so many ringers this year. I forget his name but one latin ballroom guy either won or placed in SYTYCD Australia. Another guy is part of the burn the floor group. Alex is a professional with the Miami ballet. What made me love this show are the unknowns. I want those needing a break into the professional dance world to be the focus.
