TV Guide's Dream Emmy Ballot - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

TV Guide’s Dream Emmy Ballot

May 25, 2006 by

The folks lucky enough to work at TVGuide.com have just released their annual “Dream Emmy Ballot”. So what would the Emmy nominations look like if the decisions weren’t left up to the geezer’s at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences? Let’s take a look.

Leave a comment and let me know where TVGuide.com got it right, and wrong. By the way, The Office was left off the list for best comedy. Are you kidding me? I almost dismissed all of these nominations based on that oversight alone, but they did get a few of the acting categories right. For commentary on the various nominations, click here to visit TVGuide.com.  My faves are in bold.

Our Dream Emmy Ballot
This could be the year the Emmys finally get it right. For the first time ever, a blue-ribbon panel will play a key role in determining who gets nominated in the major categories. The goal? To even the playing field between stalwarts like The West Wing and Will & Grace and smaller shows like Battlestar Galactica and Gilmore Girls. While we at TV Guide applaud such an approach, we can’t leave anything to chance. That’s why for the fifth year running, we present you with who we think should be recognized when nominations are announced on July 6. So when your ballots begin to arrive in the mail next week, keep this issue handy and feel free to copy off of us. We won’t tell.

They left out Jason Dohring. As for the rest…I pretty much agree with your choices. I love Lauren Graham and think she’s incredibly underrated. And I’ve only seen about 5 minutes of Arrested Development so I’d have to go with Scrubs for best comedy.

    And Hugh Laurie? Hands. down.

    😉

Also, Enrico Colantoni. I can’t believe I (or they) forgot about him.

    “You played ME, Veronica!”

I definitely agree about The Office being left off Best Comedy. I would also love to see Wentworth Miller & Matthew Fox in the Lead Drama Actor category and Robert Knepper as Supporting Drama Actor.

Of what they did list, I’d pick Scrubs or My Name Is Earl as Best Comedy and Lost as Best Drama, but I basically agree with the rest of GMMR’s picks!

I like your list and agree with most of it. I was surprised to see that Deadwood didn’t garner any attention. I feel it is a true drama in that it is not over acted, or over dramatized (yes i’m talking to you 24), and has far and away the best writing. Actors dream of having lines like the characters enjoy in Deadwood.

Veronica Mars isn’t up for best drama? Aaaaaand my faith in the TVGuide crew plumments. My entire biased thoughts are as usual over on my blog.

I admit that I fuzzed a couple things, notably leaving the Scrubs cast out, but it’s not like any Emmy voters will take note of my stuff anyway. 🙂

Wouldn’t it be something if Lauren Graham and Kristen Bell both won? I’m not sure my little heart could take the excitement.

    Interesting.

Would not be my exact choices, but there are some good ones in there.

If only even half of these could come true.
    Sadly, I doubt it.

Cooljammer…I can’t..I really can’t. Are you kidding me? Ha ha

How they left Jenna Fischer off the Supporting Comedy Actress list is BEYOND me.

Jim and Pam are a dynamic DUO. If they think John Krasinski can pull off Jim without Jenna as Pam, then they obviously don’t get the show.
