It Wasn’t “Lost” on The Red Sox

October 11, 2006 by

Their plane crashed. They’ve been stranded on an island for 69 days without any sign that they will ever be rescued. Their friends have been killed, and they’ve been hunted by a monster. He’s become their leader and he’s been taken prisoner. Despite all that, his biggest concern was missing the Red Sox win the World Series. Atta boy…Jack!!

I’m away at college right now but I wish I’d watched this episode at home since I know my mom (a huge LOST/Sox) fan was probably tweaking out, lol.

I like how they incorporate real life events. My spine tingled when Ben started talking about those events.

I mean, that would be my biggest concern! I’ll never forget sitting on the floor and hyperventilating as I watched Foulke’s toss to first. Even now, every time I watch that I get chills and feel teary. What good are friends and family and a home and not being hunted and ruled by a monster if you didn’t get to watch that beautiful, priceless moment of exquisite joy and wonder and perfection as it happened?!

It fit in perfectly for me. Look at Survivor when they get a letter or a visit from home. They are only out there for less than a month and they fall to pieces.

With all the trama and bizzare circumstances of the island, it was more shocking to Jack that there was, in fact, a world still revolving outside the island.

I thought it was an excellent way to bring some stark contrast and perspective to the mythical events of the island.

Plus it shatters so many theories. I mean, it brings up a whole slew of new questions but now we know for a fact that they haven’t gone back in time, or gone to the future and they’re not in limbo or anything.

I agree with Murphy about the real life events. I was getting goosebumps!
