Lorelai and Christopher are getting ready to head to the airport. Paris here we come! Gigi, child out of wedlock # 2 for Chris, is looking A LOT older then when we saw her last. Either way Lor is explaining how great Paris is to Gigi, while Chris is trying to carry their luggage. Lorelai seems confused as to what time their plane is leaving, and Chris keeps side stepping the question. It’s not till they’re in the car ready to go that we find out that the plane doesn’t take off for another 3 hours. Oh Chris, you’re so sneaky.

At the Yale Daily News everyone’s drinking champagne and toasting Rory. Why? She’s no longer Editor. Why? I have no idea, something about her stepping down. Everyone loves Rory so they give her presents and tell Rory stories. One girl even says she joined the paper to meet “cute guys” but Rory inspired her to become a journalist. I’m sure that the fact that no cute guys actually work at the paper had something to do with that. Once Paris starts talking about her own editor days everyone decides to head out and get some drinks. Rory isn’t going along, not wanting to rain on the new editor’s parade. Instead she stays in the office alone looking around at the place she used to rein.

Lane is alive and pregnant with twins! She has the ultrasound to prove it. Wow, even I didn’t think Gilmore Girls would pull such a cliché move. Lane is pretty freaked out but Zack is taking it in stride. Sure they may have to get special made clothes but hopefully they’ll have independent organs and can be separated in the future. Lane explains that they are having regular twins, not “Siamese Twins”. Well that makes Zack feel better, so he doesn’t get what the big deal is then. Think about it Lane, you procreated with him. Seeing as Lane suddenly has a rather large baby bump Zack figures it’s time to tell Lane’s Mama. Poor Lane is convinced her Mom is going to think they had sex before they were married. Honestly Lane that is the least of your worries at this point.

Ohhh…the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and signs written in French. Where ever could we be? Las Vegas? No peeps…its France! Chris and Lor have just arrived in their hotel suite and are complaining about how rude the hotel staff is. Well…Americans…French…isn’t there a history of this? They talk about how great Sherry was with Gigi, how different Sherry seems and how awesome Lorelai was with Gigi during the trip. Might I point out that no one, not even Lorelai should look that good after an international flight. Chris tries to prevent Lor from falling asleep because they’re in the “city of love and romance”. Still even he doesn’t have power to overcome jet lag. Chris phones the front desk to make dinner reservations for a fancy restaurant. After being reminded by the concierge to wear shoes to dinner (They dislike Americans that much?), Chris finally lets his woman fall asleep.

Paris and Rory are walking through the halls of Yale, as Paris is discussing her plans for the future. Should she TA? Grad School? She just has too many options. She then starts suggest different medications Rory could take to ease her transition from being editor. Okay seriously Paris must realize not everyone is as neurotic as her right? I guess not, because she doesn’t believe Rory is fine with the excess of free time she’ll have. Paris suggests calling her “Girls Gone Wild” friends; you know Olivia and Lucy we met a while back. I might have to take some medication because recapping more fast talkers just might drive me insane.

Zack and Lane are at her mother’s house having dinner, a very silent and awkward dinner. Mama’s asking nice questions, wanting to know how things are with them but they keep responding a little too quickly and a little too loudly. Mama figures something is up, so she deduces that Zack hasn’t been devoted to his music like he should be. He tries to explain but Lane quickly blurts out that she’s pregnant. That quiets Mama so Lane instantly explains they waited till after marriage to have sex, she even has a doctors note. HA! Could you imagine asking your doctor for that? But Mama is happy, as she embraces Lane’s face and offers up her congratulations. They explain about the twins and that just makes Mama even more excited. They’re so stunned at how well she’s taking it that when she proclaims “On Monday, you’ll move in with me.” Zack agrees. Well actually he says “Cool.” Mama runs off to email her family and Lane looks about ready to decapitate her husband.

It’s dark in the hotel room and Lor’s just woken up to the beautiful Paris city noise. She wakes up Chris as they realize they’ve slept till 4am, missing their dinner reservations. Lorelai immediately starts looking for a wet bar and something to eat. Chris has the brilliant idea of ordering room service, but due to the late (early?) hour there is none available. They decide to sleep a couple more hours and then have a huge breakfast when they wake. So they climb back onto the bed, still in the clothes they traveled in. Comfy.

”Lorstopher” is under the covers and wide awake. They can’t fall back asleep and they’re hungry as hell. Okay…so you’re in bed, wide awake and you have time to kill until you can get some grub. Do I need to make the obvious suggestion? I mean it is the city of love and romance. They decide to get up and search the city for something to satisfy their hunger…for food. Yeah, that was my suggestion alright.

Rory’s seems bored and a little lost with nothing to do. She decides to give her artsy friends Olivia and Lucy a call. Olivia starts yammering on about how Rory hasn’t met Lucy’s boyfriend because he’s always working. They actually call him “Boyfriend”, because this guy doesn’t have a name? Well I saw the previews so I know who it is, but I’ll keep you in suspense. I’m so mean. The girls want to get off campus and head to the country so Rory offers up her house, complete with front porch and squeaky swings. The girls are sold so Rory heads out to pick them up.

Looks like Paris isn’t so romantic when your hungry and anyplace that has food is closed. Lorelai and Chris spot a man with a sandwich and run after him, wanting to find out where he got it from. Way to improve American/French relations there guys. They walk by a man loading his bakery truck and Lorelai tries charades to explain her hunger. As the truck drives away Lor starts smirking. Seems this all reminds her of the 10th grade when she had to do a test during her lunch hour. After it was over Chris was waiting outside the classroom with a piece of pizza in his pocket and gave it to her. Ewwww…I mean Awwww. They gaze at each other and then decide to head back to the hotel. Oh so NOW you’ll take me up on my suggestion.

At Luke’s Diner Lane is working and berating Zack for his “cool” remark. Zack tries to explain that he was so relieved Mama wasn’t angry at them that the word just slipped out. Kirk walks up to Lane and puts his hand on her stomach wanting to feel the baby kick. Lane offers up a kick of her own if he doesn’t stop touching her. Luke (YAY!) shows up, kicks Kirk out and demands that Lane not walk around too much or pick up any heavy orders. Oh and should she have any questions about the whole baby thing that she could talk to his sister Liz, whose a pro at the baby making deal. He lets Lane know he thinks her and Zack will be great parents which seems to give Lane the backbone she needs. She tells her husband that as “parents” they tell people what to do, they don’t get bossed around so they’ll just have to tell Mama they’re not moving in. And that ladies and gents was our 15 seconds of Luke time, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

”Lorstopher” are lying in bed, exhausted from what I am assuming was a wild night of passion. Lor wants to live in the hotel room forever but Chris is too hungry. While looking out the window (hey, it’s still dark outside?) Chris gets an idea on how to fix everything and it’s a surprise. So they head for the showers.

The girls are sitting on Rory’s porch swing looking at old photo albums with tin foil in their hair. The girls spot Dean and think he’s a good looking man. If you think he’s hot, you should check out Sam on Supernatural. The resemblance is uncanny. Lucy starts talking about “boyfriend”, what he’s going to think of her hair, that he has great hair and that he works too much. Somehow this gets the girls on a conversation about “Snap, Crackle and Pop” so they decide to make Rice Krispie treats. As they are getting the stuff they need together Olivia finds a Rory growth chart on the closet door. This seems to freak Rory out a bit but she shakes it off.

Lor and Chris are all dressed up outside a swanky restaurant, which looks very much closed. However it’s open just for them, complete with 5 waiters, candlelight and a beautiful Paris view. Nice. Lorelai is extremely impressed and wants to know how her man was able to pull this off. Okay come on, isn’t the guy loaded? Chris says he was lying in bed, thinking about the trip to Paris they had planned as teenagers but never got to take. Yet with all the time that’s gone by and the screw ups it feels like nothing has changed because they have found their way back to each other. Oh and then he realized he was rich so he made some phone calls and bought what he wanted. Lor actually seems amazed and impressed that you can do that with money. Chris then reminds Lor of how they were going to sleep on a park bench in Paris as teenagers, because it didn’t matter where they stayed as long as they were together. They’d still both sleep on that park bench as long as they got to be together. They’re happy, they kiss and all is right with the world.

Zack and Lane are explaining to Mama why they can’t move in. They are adults and should raise they’re family in their own home. Mama takes it very well and respects their decision. Okay, that was way too easy.

The girls have finished streaking their hair with greens, purples and pinks. They decide they should form a Norwegian all girl band. Lucy starts saying that Rory could write about them in the Yale Daily News and before you know it Rory is breaking down into tears. She explains that she feels lost, like she’s staring into an abyss. She’s always known the next step her life was going to take, that is until now. Olivia and Lucy actually understand, because they feel the exact same way. At least Rory has someone to be lost with.

Lor and Chris are gazing into each others eyes. Again. They’re talking about how much they love each other, how great everything is and how they don’t want it to end. How long is their Paris trip? They haven’t even been there 24 hours. Chris tells Lor he doesn’t want to wait anymore. She thinks it’s too soon but he figures they are finally ready. Lor says she wants to but what about Rory? Chris is convinced she’ll be happy for them, because they belong together. Chris says “Marry Me.” as we fade to commercial.

I love being able to fast forward commercials. Whoever invented TIVO should get a Nobel Prize or something.

Zack is trying to convince Lane that Marco and Polo are cool names for their twins. Actually, that would be pretty funny. As they enter their house they see Mama cleaning up. Turns out she agrees with them, they should raise their children in their own home. Therefore she is moving in with them. Oh yeah, way too easy! Lane wants to know where Brian is. Mama tells them not to worry. And worry we shouldn’t because Brian is eating dinner with a nice Korean family. He actually seems pretty happy about it.

Rory and the girls are heading to their dorm room. Lucy throws open the door and shouts “Boyfriend!” so it looks like we are finally going to see who this guy is. Oh yeah, “boyfriend” is Marty! Flashback to a couple seasons ago! This could be awkward because Marty had it bad for our girl back in the day. Rory seems surprised but before she can speak Marty introduces himself, pretending he doesn’t know her. She goes along with it but once the other girls are out of ear shot she wants to know what the act is all about. Marty just thought it would be weird and really what’s the difference? Wow, harsh. Before Rory can find out more the girls come bounding back into the room and Marty continues to act like he has no idea who she is.

The couple is back in Stars Hollow and happy to be home. How long were they even gone for? Like 2 days. Who weekends in Paris? Rich people. They kiss on the couch but Chris pulls away to go grab the rest of their luggage. Still he’s able to say “Welcome home Mrs. Hayden.” and Lorelai gazes down at the ring on her hand with a smile. Yet once Chris is out of the room that smile quickly fades. Seriously Lor, what have you done?

Tune in next week folks, because if my assumptions are right: Emily will be very happy, Rory will feel left out and Luke will probably want to throw down with Chris. Not that I saw the previews or anything.

Being born and raised amongst the igloos of Canada shaped Whirl’s love of hockey, beer and the warmth of the television screen. Though she refuses to wear spandex she has sworn to use her powers of sarcasm for the greater good of man kind, and disguises herself daily as a mild mannered office clerk. Oh yeah, and she’s not too bad at Trivial Pursuit. Seriously. Seriously.

Okay, thank you! I missed the first minute or so, and when I saw the “Rory stepping down” party I was oh so confused. I thought I missed something. I don’t get it, but at least I didn’t miss something lol.

    Awesome recap fellow Canadian!

Yay for Canadian sarcasm! And that was a great recap. I also was glad that nobody else seems to know why Rory was suddenly stepping down in the early part of the school year – I thought I had missed something. My best guess is that there’s a plan for her that wouldn’t be realistic if she still had her editor duties to think about so they needed to axe it, and quickly.

Yeah, I was wigging out when I couldn’t figure out why Rory was stepping down. And then they just sort of nonchalantly threw in the twins news. “Wtf? Did I miss an episode? Surely not…I watched last week, right? Yeah, I taped it…”

It was horrendous for a couple of minutes until I realized I hadn’t missed anything. 😉

Thank you so much for such a great re-cap. I thought I had set my VCR to tape it and when I got home about half way thru and it wasn’t on, I was very mad. When I tuned in, Rory was dying her hair and I was wondering why she wasn’t editor anymore. Now I feel like I watched all of it!!!

Just a point of clarification: As the episode fades to black, Lorelai was fidgeting with her wedding ring and had a look of “oh, what have I just done?” in her eyes. Not really quite as cheery as Lor’s banter with Christopher made the scene look at first glance.

Does anyone have a clue where I can get ahold of the lime green and black polka dot luggage Lor used to go to Paris? :o)
