The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote

Although we don’t get a new episode of The Office this week, we get the next bext thing…3 repeats. Yes, NBC is showing the love by airing the show multiple times tonight. Since there isn’t a new ep, we won’t be having our live ‘Office’ chat over at BuddyTV. Sorry. But don’t fret, because we will be chatting it up next week, and I can’t wait!!

There’s not a ton of Office gossip this week, but what I have is yours.

UPDATE: Mo Ryan’s got some scoop (and some minor spoilers) straight from Andy & Jan (Check it out)

Triple Decker of The Office…

The Office, The Coup“The Coup” (8:30 pm EST)
After Jan busts Michael for holding ‘Movie Monday’, Angela pushes Dwight into making a play for Michael’s job. Meanwhile, Pam internet shops and has a fashion show…fashion show…fashion show at lunch. In Stamford, Jim plays video games and gets killed in virtual reality. (Episode Highlight)

The Office, Grief Counseling“Grief Counseling” (10:00 pm EST)
After learning that the former regional manager has tragically died (his capa was detated from his head), Michael attempts to compel an appropriate show of grief from the Dunder Mifflin staff as he searches for the right way to honor a company man. Roy helps Pam duck out of the session. And in the Stamford office, Jim and Karen go on a hunt for snacks. (Episode Highlight)

The Office, Initiation“Initiation” (10:30 pm EST)
Ryan goes out on his first sales call, but is taken aback by the odd series of challenges that Dwight puts before him along the way, including a sidetrip to the Schrute family beet farm (FEAR). Back at the office, Pam keeps a log of Michael’s activities, while trying to help him be productive. Jim & Pam talk for the first time since Casino Night. (Episode Highlight)

Kate Flannery (Meredith Palmer) on The OfficeFrom the Desk of Kate Flannery…
Check out Kate’s latest TV Guide blog for more on the craziness that is awards season, the incredible ratings news about The Office, and why she and some of the other Dunder Mifflin gals were feeling like The Golden Girls while shooting an upcoming episode. (Kate’s TV Guide Blog) Trivia: Did you know that the character of Dorothy (Bea Arthur) on The Golden Girls got her last name from Office producer Kent Zbornak? True.

More Office Thursday after the jump

Jim & Dwight, The OfficeLessons from The Office…
The people over at MSN think that The Office is a ‘cautionary tale about how NOT to behave in a professional setting’, and they are not wrong. They offer a few tips on the do’s and don’ts of working in a real office.

Joke with care.
When it comes to having a good sense of humor in the workplace, focus on developing the “good sense” part. While most professionals can easily identify jokes that fall into the “absolutely acceptable” and “clearly inappropriate” categories, they have trouble navigating the gray area in between. (Um, I think they are talking to you Halpert & Beesly) (More lessons)

Ed Helms, The OfficeEd Helms is My Hero…
Andy may have been all up in our ‘bidness’ and bothering the ‘bejeezus’ out of us lately, but we all know that Ed Helms is nothing like his on screen persona.’s Joel Keller got a first hand look at how cool Ed is when he came to the aid of a woman in need. He seems like a pretty chill guy, and I personally can’t wait for Andy to come back from his ‘anger management’ training. (Why Ed Helms is a Mensch)

John KrasinskiBrief News of Brief Interviews…
During his winter hiatus from The Office, John Krasinski directed Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, a film he wrote based on the David Foster Wallace book of the same name. The film stars Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton (who stars with Rainn Wilson in The Last Mimzy), as well as some of John’s good friends including Julianne Nicholson (Law & Order: CI, but more importantly from Medford, MA where Mom & Pop GMMR live), Joey Slotnick (Nip/Tuck) and the beautiful Rashida Jones. There’s not a ton of news on Brief Interviews, but I stumbled across a bit of scoop from MTV.

We all know that “The Office” star John Krasinski spends enough time looking at the camera, so it’s refreshing that he’s decided to step behind it for a change. “John did a really interesting thing with the adaptation,” actor Timothy Hutton said this week of “Brief Interviews With Hideous Men”, a movie written and directed by Krasinski and based on the bestselling book by David Foster Wallace. “It’s his favorite book. Foster Wallace read the script and thought what John did was amazing, and said to John, ‘You solved the puzzle.’ (Read the rest of the entry at

Roy, The OfficeDavid Denman at Sundance…
David Denman was featured in two flicks that premiered at Sundance: If I Had Known I Was a Genius and The Nines. David was in town for all the festivities. It killed me not to post these pics right away, but I wanted to wait for Office Thursday to share the hotness. Be prepared to swoon.

“Foster Wallace read the script and thought what John did was amazing, and said to John, ‘You solved the puzzle.’”

WOW. Now THAT is a compliment. BI is one of my favorite books. I am one of those people who is crazy-insane-in love with DFW’s writing. Hearing things like only makes me more excited to see how in the world John made this book into a movie.

    Also, David Denman, hi. Adorable.

I”m so interested to see which parts of “BI” John adapted for the film. I loved the book, more than I thought I would, and some of the interviews really stuck with me. That being said, there were some really disturbing parts as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the Office repeats tonight. It will be weird to see Jim back in Stamford again…

Is there a link to the “Lessons from the Office” article? I’d love to read it.

Even though we don’t have a new episode to look forward to, we can still look forward to Office Thursday. Thanks for the great installment GMMR.

Didn’t Michael call Andy a Mensch in BC? I wonder if they made the connection or if it’s just a coincidence.

I like the idea of Lessons from The Office. I brought my son to work with me on Tues. I felt like Meredith with her “horrible little latchkey kid” but my son wasn’t suspended, he just didn’t have school that day. Anyway, he really understood a lot about an office environment from watching the episodes with me and he asked a lot of really good questions. He recognized the receptionist right away because of her high, rounded desk. He understood what a branch was and that there could be different offices far away from each other working for the same company (our company has branches nationwide). He wanted to know what my branch was and when I told him this was Corporate his eyes got wide and he asked if I was like Jan. I told him not exactly, I work in the HR Dept., so then he asked if I was like Tobey. I told him sort of, but my whole job revolves around health insurance so he wanted to know why Dwight got to pick the health plan and not Tobey, since it benefits fall under HR and I told him it wouldn’t have been funny that way. He’s 11 and while most 11 yr. olds would be bored to death spending the day in their parent’s office, it was a really pleasant experience for him. That and the fact that he also had his PSP with him.

if anyone needs some really exciting news about The Office, head over to and check out the very top post.

basically, we may be looking at two more seasons of Jam angst. 😉

  10. GMMR on January 25th, 2007 7:47 pm

Well nothing has been confirmed by NBC yet. It’s not often that a show gets picked up for two seasons in advance without a major fanfare. It could be true though. Also, I don’t think we are going to have to wait til the end to see JAM together.
