While I Was Away…SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

July 16, 2007 by

TV doesn’t stop just because I go away for the weekend (although I wish it did).  I was up until a little past 2 AM trying to catch up on some of my faves that I missed while I was away.  Here’s my brief two cents about this week’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE elimination.

I wasn’t shocked to see Cedric or Shauna go home this week.  I think it was about time for both of them. And to be honest, I don’t think the judges wanted to split up another couple.  I didn’t really care about Shauna so I wasn’t all the affected but I don’t think she had a fair shot from Day One.  She had to dance with two different partners, one of which was not even close to her level of talent.  Thems the breaks I guess.

Some of the solos this week were off the charts.  Danny was breathtaking, Hok was unbelievable, Jaimie showed why she is in this competition, and Anya proved why she should be caged up.  Seriously, I’m ready for the judges to send Anya home just to send the message to all the other dancers that if you wear fuglicious costumes like that then you are offending the vision of America and you need to leave the stage immediately. Cat Deely was especially cute, and although I LOVE Adam Shankman as a judge I was worried that my TV would blow up from his ego.  He gives Danny Tidwell a run for his money (ouch).

Here’s the great group opening number to “You Can’t Stop the Beat” choreographed by guest judge and director of the upcoming HAIRSPRAY, Adam Shankman.

Based on their solos alone, Anya should have gone home. Based on their performance the previous night, Anya should have gone home. Based on their performances throughout the competition, Anya should have gone home. Shauna was robbed. She never got to reach her true potential with the partners she had. She landed in the bottom 3 because of her partners. Not that I think that Danny would have done much more for her if she had stayed in the competition, but I still think she should have been given a better shot given all she’s had to put up with since the beginning of the show.

obviously shauna was robbed. I love her solos. her solos are not even rehearsed; she does it all on the spot. that’s a real dancer. she was never even featured in the beginning that much or at all. she was obviously not given a fair shot at all, unlike hok and lacey.
