PARASIDE HOTEL 2 is the Guiltiest of All Guilty Pleasures

Paradise Hotel 2

I’m not sure if watching PARADISE HOTEL 2 even fits into the category of guilty pleasure. It’s got to have a category all on its own. I’m trying to remember if there has been a trashier reality show in the history of TV, and I can’t say that I can think of one. PARADISE HOTEL 2 It’s everything that is wrong with not only reality TV but our voyeuristic, indulgent culture. Perhaps that’s why I love it.

Just by watching this show I think I am single handily sabotaging the WGA strike efforts. Sorry.

For those of you who don’t remember PARADISE HOTEL from its original run a few years back on Fox, here’s the premise. Eleven sexy, slutty people who crave attention 24/7 move into a luxurious hotel in a secluded location in paradise (hence the title of the show) and do whatever they can to ensure a longer stay at Paradise Hotel. To stay in paradise, guests must find a roommate of the opposite sex and the individual left without a roommate will have to leave the hotel. Things take a dramatic turn when new guests check-in and have to quickly make and break alliances to stay in the competition. There are no rules in this game of strategy and manipulation where sex and seduction are among the tools players use in their battle to avoid eviction.

And yes, it’s as trashy, if not more, so than it sounds. I mean a game show where the point is to make alliances through sex. Genius!! And if that weren’t enough, although the show airs on MyNetworkTV (9pm ET/PT on Mondays), the Fox Reality Channel airs an MA-TV version at 1am ET/10pm PT late that night.

There’s no reason to watch this show other than for the off the charts unintentional comedy potential. Oh and of course there’s the other other game I like to play where I wonder what happened to these people during their formative years to make them so desperate and needy.

I’m not actually here to recommend PARADISE HOTEL 2 to anyone. I’m actually encouraging you not to watch it. Save the brain cells. But don’t hate me because I love it…some people have their vices.

Wow, really Kath? I mean this show may have contributed to a contestant killing himself after taping wrapped. This is beyond the lowest of low forms of television.

    I’m docking you 2,000 points.

I never said I was proud. And yes, that is sad news about Nathan. DO they think something happened on the show that lead to his suicide? Very sad.
