SURVIVOR: Full on Smackdown

Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites

Unlike it’s reality show rival, American Idol, the fans and favorites competing against each other in this season’s SURVIVOR weren’t la la la’ing it to stay in the game…they were fighting to the death, or so it seemed.

This is the first season since the first that I’m watching SURVIVOR and let me tell you – I would not last 10 minutes in this game. Watching Survivor is like a glimpse into my own personal hell. The bugs, sleeping on the ground, rats, critters ever which way, and wearing a bathing suit on national television – yeah, I’ll pass.

Having not watched past seasons, I don’t have any connection to any of the favorites. I watched a few episodes from Cirie’s season and I liked her. And damn if she didn’t play a good game last night. Well, I think it was a good game. I’m not versed enough in SURVIVOR strategy to analyze moves just yet. If this was BIG BROTHER I would know what I was talking about, but not Survivor.

Can we talk for a minute about last night’s reward challenge? That was brutal!! I can’t believe there weren’t any major brawls coming out of that full out smackdown. Guys were flipping chicks over their backs and slamming them to the ground. People were smacking each other in the face. Damn. Again, not my idea of a good time.

Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites - Rewards Challenge

The favorites won the reward challenge, but the fans won the important immunity challenge forcing the favorites to send one of their own home. Cirie, the swing vote for the two alliances, dictated the game last night. She decided who she wanted to go home and damn if she didn’t get her way. I’m sure it put a pretty big target on her back, but I think that she knows exactly what she’s doing. In the end it was Yau-Man who got his torched snuffed by Probst (which I feel deserves a ‘that’s what she said’). From what I hear, Yau-Man was well liked in his season…true? I think this ousting probably hurt the Favorites as a team, but I’m sure they’ll rally back.

Ok all you long time SURVIVOR watchers. Talk to me. Was last night’s move a good one? Was Cirie being smart or did she make a big boo boo last night? And who should I be rooting for on the Favorites side? I’m kind of loving Ozzie right now. He keeps his mouth shut and gets the job done. Yes? No? Fill me in.

I’ve watched every season except one. Cirie’s move was not smart. She put a HUGE target on her back and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she’s the next to go. There was no reason to send Yau-man home this early. She shouldn’t have been so stubborn. Despite being the oldest, Yau-man wass great at group challenges even the physical ones. And even though Jonathan annoys me to no end, I thought it was awesome how he confronted her at tribal council.

On the fans side, is anyone else starting to get creeped out by the firefighter? At one point they zoomed in on his face after the bad rainstorm, and it totally reminded me of Jack Nicholson’s crazy eyes in the Shining.

I thought that Cirie did make a silly move by blurting out what the plans were, but I did not blame them for getting rid of Yau-Man. He was a great player in his season until he made the STUPID STUPID STUPID move of giving up the car he won…IDIOT! Anyway, I’ll get over that eventually.
I just really wish they would’ve rid the game of the Alan Alda sound-alike Jonathan Penner, he just seems like that slimeball that everyone had in their school that picked on everyone just to get attention.
I do however find it to be to early in the game to pick out a winner, just from seeing them previously I hope it is James, Ozzy or Cirie. But I kind of get the feeling that the Fans are going to ultimately take over.
All I can say though is that if it weren’t for DVR I couldn’t watch this show. I’m able to watch the 2 challenges and tribal council all in about 25 minutes…It’s great.

DUDE!! That’s who Jonathan sounds like…Alan Alda. It’s been killing me trying to figure out who it was. That’s so bizarre.

I’m loving the feedback on Cirie. Not being a long time viewer it’s really hard to tell what moves will work as part of a long term strategy.

I thought Cirie was stupid to do what she did. She really took a chance and I thought that all of them might turn and vote her out. It has happened in the past a few times and she somewhat deserved it. It will be interesting to see what happens next but Cirie better watch it or she is going to be gone.
