Brooke White Singing "You Must Love Me" (Watch) - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Brooke White Singing “You Must Love Me” (Watch)

April 22, 2008 by

I know Brooke White has a lot of fans out there, and up until tonight I was one of them. Now I’ve never been effusive in my love for Brooke, but I always kind of dug what she brought to the stage. Sorry, but all my good thoughts were gone the minute she stopped the song and started over. I’ve been there. I’ve been on stage and forgot lyrics, and let me tell you it’s a sick, sick feeling. But for the second time tonight, I’m agreeing with Paula on this one…you just push through. You are on your way to becoming a professional artist and you are in fact of the biggest stage in the world. I’m sure it’s happened, but I’d be pretty bummed out if I went to go see someone like Mariah or Whitney perform live and they stopped a few seconds into the song and asked for a do over. Come on now. And you know what? I’d probably let this slide if this were Brooke’s first time doing this…but it’s not. Maybe I’m being too harsh, but it was all a bit too amateurish to me.

As for the performance itself – had she not had the false start I think I would have rather enjoyed it. While the vocals weren’t anything spectacular, Brooke pushed her range tonight and did it somewhat well. I agree with Simon when he said that her rocky start affected her whole performance. I was almost waiting for her to forget the lyrics again. I thought she was a bit over dramatic. What Andrew Lloyd Weber was saying about feeling the song was right on, but I thought Brooke was drawing on fake emotion and and vulnerability she had came more from fear than heart.

As I mentioned before, Paula wasn’t too thrilled about Brooke’s lack of professionalism. Simon and Randy let her off the hook too easily. Then again, Simon has an agenda when it comes to Brooke. Can you imagine if Syesha started and stopped a song? Simon would probably physically take her off the stage.

I’m full prepared to get an earful from the Brooke lovers out there. I’m prepared. Bring it.

I couldn’t watch it. I still can’t watch it. As soon as she asked the band to start again I was like, “Uh oh” then I quickly changed the channel. I couldn’t handle it, I felt so bad for her.

I did the same thing Sabrina did I just had to change the channel I came back to the performance before the end. And I find her pretty boring now and she used to be one of my favorites. I just think she just doesn’t bring anything unique to her performances.

I always watch AI on DVR and when she stopped I had to fast forward through the rest of her performance. I was embarrassed for her and I couldn’t stand to watch her start the song over. I was never a big fan of hers but I thought she had potential. After last night, I feel she should be the one to go home this week.

She needs to go home. But at least she didn’t talk too much when the judges were critiquing her – I HATE that about her. And the stupid furrowed brow thing she does.

haha i feel all the contrary 2 u guys, i feel brooke brings everything different to this competition, her and jason do.
she’s full of emotion and has a soft nice voice that no other idol has.
perhaps her range isn’t as big as carly’s or syesha’s but she has something else
anyway, maybe AI isn’t the right place for her, but i’ll support her anyway.
    love ya brooke

I think Brooke’s place is in a artsy coffee shop somewhere, not as the next American Idol. I am sure she is expecting to go home tonight.

Having heard Madona sing this, I thought Brooke sang it with more emotion. I’m still her fan as I was Michaels.

I really think Brooke fake her way through the false start, she had altered the playing field. Her false start drew lots & loads of sympathy votes from audiences & viewers. I was not a surprise that did not make it the bottom two. Brooke should go home. American Idol is not the right place for her. Hollywood or the US Presidency Candidate would be a better place.

I really think that Brooke fake her way through the false start. That ‘act’ had actually drew lots & loads of sympathy votes from the audiences & viewers. Brooke had altered the playing field. American Idol has no place for an actress like her. Hollywood or the US Presidency Candidate would be a better place. Listen to what Andrew Llyod Webber had said about her during the orientation – ‘such a good actress’. At this hour I cant think of any A.I contestant whom can sing and play an instrument at same time could ever forget the lyrics. She’s a real fake, go home Brooke.

The first commenter was NEVER a fan of Brooke White. That is is a good joke. It is the oldest jounalistic trick in the book to open a commentary. A cheap way to try to sound “fair” before simply tearing somone up. Nice try. Some have said Brooke is fake but I suspect fake is the midle name of first poster who doent even the guts simply admit I never liked her Insstead youof the phony try be fair routine you dont like her. Your writng holds the same truth than used car ad.

However, I leave the last word to some who holds more credibity than anything written here. Carly Simon in 40 years the buiness 40 years was in touch with Brooke and told here straight up and the LA times that her version of Vain was far better than anything (Carly ) she ever did and that her style was honest (not fake) and and unique (real) and not to change a thing. MAy you a saying Carly a fake. for taking som time encourage someone.

Ms. Simon remarks about talent and style and stength have slightly more creidbility the commical jokes above. She was and spoke very highky in wriitng times and to Brooke about her strong she sense of style admoshsied not to change Ya think Ms Simon whose has defiend pop music for so migh ne more credible that or wiz crtics who only can says whats wrong and whine points. Yh think? David A. forget the words more often but it was ok for him.
And he could be the next IDOL. Wow.

And just to educate the person in the last post. actress was not used to mean DOES NOT mean actor. The term in Britain where Sir Andrew comes if you know Britain is (in the ocean) refers to a singer giving a performance or “reading “. If your going make nasty comments at learn the meaning of your words.or use a dictionary. (that would be book with word meanings inside) Usually heavy or dense like your remarks. .

The crtics who have picked the re realease of MS Whites album have give better than just good reviews. It cracking billboard with almost no publicity so something is right.

edit. The first poster was NEVER a fan of Brooke White. That is a joke. It is the oldest journalistic trick in the book to open a commentary. A cheap way to try to sound “fair” before simply tearing somone up. Nice try. Some have said Brooke is fake but I suspect fake is the middle name of the poster who doesnt have the guts to admit he never liked Brooke. Instead it is a litany of phony Im actually fair lines. You dont like her. Fine. Your writng holds the same truth as a used car ad.

However, I leave the last word to someone who holds more credibility than anything written here. Carly Simon (40 years in the buiness) was in touch with Brooke and told here straight up and in writing that her version of Vain was far better than anything (Carly ) ever did and that her style was honest (not fake) and and unique (real) and not to change a thing. She praised her voice quaility.

Maybe you are saying Carly is fake. Gee taking time to encourage someone. when you dont like or think they have potential….them. Novel idea

Ms. Simons remarks about talent and style and stength have more credibility the jokes above. She spoke very highly in writing times and to Brooke about her strong she sense of style admoshsied not to change Ya think Ms Simon whose has defined pop music for so long might be more credible than our our wiz panel who only can say whats wrong and whine.
