March 5, 2009 by

I am sooo excited for TV tonight. Can I get a round of applause for the return of THE OFFICE? I’ve missed you favorite show. I’ve missed you so much! I But the fun doesn’t stop there, oh no, we’ve got new episodes of 30 ROCK, IDOL (blerg), and the finale of AMERICA’S BEST DANCE SCREW. Oh it’s a very special night of TV for yours truly. Is it primetime yet?

Before we move on to tonight’s TV highlights, please join me in wishing my friend Julie a very Happy Birthday!! She’s one of my besties and she’s always so supportive of GiveMeMyRemote.com. She’s a one-woman promotional machine. Jules – may pretty yellow houses and Tim Riggins be in your future. Love you, Jules!

What does YOUR TV lineup look like tonight?

American Idol | 8pm on Fox
Oh good governor, another night of IDOL.  Talk about taking a show out for a walk.  Enough already. Of course I’ll be watching. Some of my favorite cast offs will be performing tonight. Here’s to hoping Matt Giraud, Anoop DeSai and Ricky Braddy sing their asses off tonight. And please God may this be the last time we have to see Tatiana on the IDOL stage!

Survivor: Tocantins | 8pm on CBS
“The Strongest Man Alive”

A grueling endurance competition threatens an all-time “Survivor” strength record; the first alliance of the season emerges; one castaway is voted off. [GMMR: Dan talks SURVIVOR in the latest TV Talk Podcast.  Did you listen? ]

Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
“Sugar Daddy”
Ignacio enters a TV cook-off with celebrity chef Frankie Burrata (Steve Schirripa); the Mode staff deals with the aftermath of recent events. [GMMR: Here’s a shocker – I actually enjoyed most of last week’s UGLY BETTY. Not so shocking – I only enjoyed the scenes with Marc and Amanda.]

The Office | 9pm on NBC
“Blood Drive
Michael meets a mysterious woman at a blood drive; Dwight and Kevin attend a “Lonely Hearts Party”; Jim and Pam have an awkward lunch with Bob and Phyllis. [GMMR: I’ll admit it. I’m in for a good Jim & Pam episode.  Bring it on showmancers!]

30 Rock | 9:30pm on NBC
“Goodbye, My Friend”
Liz befriends a pregnant teen in hope of adopting her baby; Jenna tries to get more attention from the staff as her birthday approaches; Jack and Frank bond over their daddy issues. [GMMR: Jenna tries to get more attention? Is that possible?]

America’s Best Dance Crew | 10pm on MTV
All of the crews from the season return as YOUR votes determine the winner of America’s Best Dance Crew.  Will it be the boys of Quest or the ladies of the Beat Freaks? [GMMR: Quest Crew FTW!!]

Burn Notice | 10pm on USA
“Lesser Evil”

Michael discovers secrets from Victor’s past and prepares for a showdown with Carla in the second-season finale. [GMMR: Burn Notice fans are out for my blood after that I had to say in the last podcast. Uh oh.]

ER | 10pm on NBC
“What We Do”
The staff at County General is interviewed for a documentary on emergency medicine; Morris’ girlfriend is rushed to the ER with gunshot wounds; Sam tries to make amends with her mother (Amy Madigan). [GMMR: Someone wake me when Clooney is on, ok?]

Also playing…

  • My Name is Earl | 8:00pm on NBC: Earl reminisces the fun he and Randy had at space camp when they were kids; Darnell tries to help Joy make friends on the Internet.
  • Kath & Kim | 8:30pm on NBC: Phil and Kath get ready for their bachelor and bachelorette parties; Craig and Derrick hire a stripper for Phil’s party.
  • Hells Kitchen | 9:00pm on Fox: Ramsay asks the chefs to create three Asian-fusion dishes using poultry, seafood and beef; both teams crack under pressure when they go head-to-head during the dinner service.
  • CSI | 9pm on CBS: Nick pieces together three separate murder cases that took place at a motel over the course of a year.

Lots and lots to choose from. What will YOU be watching?

I agree re: The Office!! I’m all for keeping Jim and Pam as part of the ensemble and not spending every episode dwelling on the relationship, but it has been a while since we’ve had a strong focus on them as a couple and I’m ready for some Jam – bring it on!

PS – every Thursday when Kath and Kim continues to be listed on the “What to Watch”, it makes me angry all over again for losing great shows like Pushing Daisies and for the uncertainties like Privileged and FNL. I guess these garbage shows are like cockroaches – they can survive anything?

Uhg! I agree about Kath & Kim… such a waste. I love 30 Rock, but my favorite episodes are Jenna-free.

YES! Quest Crew FTW!!! In this type of show, you should never have an “off” week. Quest Crew “kilt” it every time.

I never saw the hype with Beat Freaks, although I do give them props, but I wasn’t all that impressed with them.
