ABC Gives Early Pick Ups For ’09-’10 TV Season

April 23, 2009 by

ABC won’t be announcing it’s full lineup of shows until next month’s Upfront presentation, but the alphabet network did give an early nod to a few shows today.  Nothing too shocking but a big sigh of relief if you are a fan of the following:

  • Dancing with the Stars
  • Desperate Housewives
  • America’s Funniest Home Videos
  • Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
  • Wifeswap
  • Brothers & Sisters
  • Private Practice
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • The Bachelor
  • Supernanny
  • Ugly Betty
  • Lost

Again, no big surprises here.  But this list does however put to rest all rumors about a possible UGLY BETTY cancellation.  Logically many of us new the show wasn’t going anywhere, but ABC’s schedule shift had quite a few people worried.

I’m looking forward to the next schedule released.  What will make the cut?  I’m hoping BETTER OFF TED makes the list – it’s a great show!

I’m gonna need more Castle. It’s the only thing I watch on ABC.

I’m hoping for Castle and The Unusuals. I’m really liking The Unusuals. I wish someone was blogging about it to the point where I might email you and see if I can blog about it just so I can see other people’s thoughts. That’s the only things I watch on ABC

I’m hoping Castle, The Unusuals and Better Off Ted!

I am on the Castle and Unusual train too! Love both shows.

I didn’t know that America’s Funniest Videos was still on. I thought that went away 10 years ago?

I am crossing fingers, toes, and eyes for Castle AND Better Off Ted. Both fantastic shows! Scrubs, which was a favourite of mine last year, I could probably do without, sad as it is.

I’ve watched all three of the shows mentioned and I find myself liking all of them. Castle the most – I find myslelf looking forward to it. The other two are good also, and deserve renewal, but I haven’t found myself waiting for the next ep just yet.

ENOUGH OF THE BACHELOR! That is the worst concept for a tv show ever. I lose respect for people who watch that show. A goup of desperate women saying “pick me!” is SOSOO sad. I’m embarrassed for those “contestants”. What a shocker when the relationships don’t work out (giving the decision solely to the man is not a relationship). Then I see this Melissa girl on DWTS and I wonder what would posess her to be on The Bachelor? Like she can’t get a date? WORST SHOW.

    P.S. bring back Eli Stone…..:(

There’s the possibility of “Scrubs: The Next Generation” (or something similar following the new interns, but even as a huge Scrubs fan, I don’t care too much. However, I will admit that Denise, one of the new interns, is probably the best new character on TV this season.
But I hope “Better Off Ted” gets renewed. The post-Scrubs slot just isn’t that great of a slot, and I wish they’d give it another try before canceling.
