Neil Patrick Harris Closes the Tonys with a Song - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Neil Patrick Harris Closes the Tonys with a Song

June 8, 2009 by

If you watched the Tonys last night on CBS then you no doubt had a wonderful time experiencing glimpses of a night out on a theater.  It was a wonderful night of music and dance, despite CBS’ efforts to kill the show with horribly bad production.  Honestly whomever was running the show was hopefully fired immediately because it was a complete disaster from the technical issues to the camera work.  Just horrible.

But despite having a Ph.D. in horribleness, you know what was anything but? Neil Patrick Harris.  Neil was a perfect host, charged with moving the show along and popping in with funny little bits. He was fantastic.  But the best NPH moment of the night came as the credits were rolling. NPH gave us a little Tonys recap via song.

So happy he got to sing.  Fabulous!

Best Tony host ever. Best song in an award show ever. I enjoyed the entire show last night, but that ending song was pure genius. I was hysterical laughing while also enjoyed NPH’s fantastic voice.

I really enjoyed the show too…despite the annoying technical difficulties and the fact that my high school classmate, Will Swenson, didn’t win for Hair. 🙁 NPH was awesome…I expected nothing less from him!

I had family over so got to the show late, was NPH’s opening good?

I was psyched to see Angela L. win for it was the only nominated performance I saw but it alas too was in the first 40-min I missed.

Other than the horrible filming – what the hell were they doing during the ‘In Memorium’ – I was getting dizzy trying to catch the names? Then just a flicker of the moment when Broadway dims its lights for the recently departed. Well, oher than all that, the show as it always is was excellent. They keep the telecast awards to a minimum and offer wonderful entertainment. Most other awards shows pale in comparison. Besides that I am a theater geek.

And last but not least, am so glad I was watching live for NPH’s closing. Hysterical!

NPH was amazing! I had to miss the ending, so seeing this here is fantastic! Thanks for the post, GMMR. But that camera work? Psht. A PhD in horribleness indeed!
