Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Friday, October 2, 2009

October 2, 2009 by

Congratulations my friends. You’ve made it to Friday.  And for doing such a great job all week long I’m going to reward you with new episodes of SMALLVILLE, DOLLHOUSE and the adorable Jenna Fischer on with LENO. (BTW, this will mark the very first episode of the new Leno show I’ve ever seen. The things I do for the people I love). You’re welcome.

Where are all my SMALLVILLE fans?!  We need to hear from you.  Are you there?  Speak up!

And how are we feeling about DOLLHOUSE?  Is there any interest in a weekly rundown of the show? You let me know and we can make it happen.  I finally got around to watching last week’s episode, and while a lot of my carryover issues from last season are still there, I must say…and are you sitting down, because this is shocking…I rather enjoyed Topher.  Crazy, right?  Is my least favorite character perhaps winning me over?   Talk to me DOLLHOUSErs, would you be chatting along with me if I covered the show?

On Fox you’ve got the season premiere of ‘TIL DEATH. Um, yeah.

Tonight is the much buzzed about series premiere of STARGATE UNIVERSE. I’ve never watched any of the STARGATE franchises, but I will probably give this one a go.  How about you?

Ok enough of that, let’s get down to tonight’s TV schedule.  I’m not going to say that all the scripted shows on tonight are worth your time, but there are certainly a lot of shows to choose from.  I don’t remember a Friday night ever this crowded with new episodes.  And next week UGLY BETTY joins the mix.

Smallville | 8pm on The CW
“Metallo”
After being hit by a truck, John Corben wakes up with a Kryptonite heart and superhuman strength; Lois gets kidnapped after involving herself in one of the Red-Blue Blur’s investigations [GMMR: How I wished I loved ‘Smallville’. I do love me some Notorious BAG. Brian Austin Greene should be a great addition to the show.]

Brothers | 8pm on Fox

When another bartender quits, Adele takes over the open position; Coach enjoys his freedom while Adele is out of the house.

Dollhouse | 9pm on Fox

Echo’s maternal instincts kick in when she is imprinted as the mother of a newborn baby; Adelle visits November.

Stargate Universe | 9pm on SyFy | Series Premiere
“Air”
A soldier leads evacuees through a stargate onto an unknown, but somewhat familiar spacecraft in the debut of the third series in the “Stargate” franchise. Dr. Nicholas Rush: Robert Carlyle. Col. Telford: Lou Diamond Phillips. Col. Everett Young: Justin Louis. Directed by franchise veteran Andy Mikita.

Medium | 9pm on CBS
“Who’s That Girl?”
When Ariel begins to exhibit strange behavior, Allison suspects the spirit of a murdered stripper is to blame.

Numb3rs | 10pm on CBS
“Friendly Fire”
Don’s team investigates when two members of a unit led by his former mentor are killed during a shootout with bank robbers.

I love Smallville, but it’s a strictly TV on DVD show for me, which I’m sort of bummed about because now that it’s on Fridays I could probably make it work, if I were caught up. Which I am not.

I’m loving Dollhouse, although last week was a bit confusing for me. It may need a rewatch before the new ep this week. I would love to see this show covered on GMMR!

I am also checking out Stargate Universe and also have not watched any previous versions. I was tempted to get into some of them on DVD, but it was too daunting. Looking forward to giving this a try though.

I don’t have any Friday shows. It’s kind of sad actually. Since the other days are so jam packed. But I generally use Friday as a catch up day for other stuff if I have it available. Of course I don’t have tonight available and would like to catch up on Private Practice, FlashForward and possibly Grey’s.

I’ll definitely be recording Leno. I watched the first time the other day when Steve was on. May wait to watch until I found out if there are wedding spoilers in it or not.

Is Psych on this week? It’s my only Friday show.
