GCB Series Preview

March 4, 2012 by

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES may be ending its run shortly, but ABC may have found a new set of women to fill their shoes.

The Leslie Bibb and Kristin Chenoweth-led GCB premieres tonight at 10 PM, and while there is bound to be some controversy (the show is based off the book “Good Christian Bitches,” so yes, religion is touched on in the series), the show is fun and one of the most enjoyable guilty pleasures this television season has given us.

Oh, I wondered what GCB stood for, and now I know! I was sort of suspicious of this show, because of my personal opinions and beliefs, but Marisa, you had mentioned that you liked it, so I decided to give the pilot a shot on iTunes. I am glad I did. I laughed…a LOT. It hasn’t aired yet, so I won’t say what was so funny, because I don’t want to spoil anything. It was more scathing satire than ridiculousness, and I like satire. I didn’t love the main character…I thought she was kind of annoying, but it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I loved seeing David James Elliott on TV again–he looks even better than ever, which doesn’t seem possible, because he’s gorgeous, but OMG…larger than life Texas Oil Man suits him. Good golly! *fans self*.

I also am a long time fan of Annie Potts, and she was great. Kristin Chenoweth is always great and this was no different.

The character I liked most was Heather, the real estate agent.
