FRINGE Halts Production on Final Season

July 25, 2012 by

Production on the final year of FRINGE has hit a slight snag — sources confirm that filming has temporarily stopped on the show’s fifth season so series star John Noble (Walter) can get treatment for a sleep disorder. TMZ was first to report the story.

Filming on the Fox series is set to resume on August 7th, and sources say this setback won’t impact the show’s September 28th season premiere or its planned January 2013 series finale air date.

UPDATE: 7:11 PM: While a few other cast members have had a bit of bad luck, sources confirm that the production shut down is due solely to Noble getting treatment for his sleep disorder.

FRINGE airs Fridays at 9 PM on Fox.

NBC is getting into the vampire business — the network has just ordered a 10-episode first season of an adaptation of DRACULA, starring former THE TUDORS star Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

According to an NBC press release, “the 10-episode series introduces Dracula as he arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier. There’s only one circumstance that can potentially thwart his plan: Dracula falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.”

What do you think? Would you be interested in watching this new/updated take on DRACULA? Or are you all vamped out with all the other supernatural shows on the air?

We know a few things about the upcoming fifth season of FRINGE: we know it takes place in 2036, we know that Peter has now been reunited with Etta, Walter, and Astrid, we know William Bell is still stuck in that amber…but we don’t know where the heck Olivia is and when she’ll be reuniting with her family.

Kevin Reilly on the Future of BONES: Will it Go Beyond Season 8?

BONES star David Boreanaz (Booth) made a few headlines recently when he tweeted that he’s a “free agent” after this season of the Fox drama is completed. (He addressed that a bit further at Comic-Con, too.) And while it’s true that his contract will be up then, Fox president Kevin Reilly is optimistic Boreanaz won’t be back on the job market.

“We’re negotiating with David and I don’t expect [him being a free agent] to be the case,” Reilly said to reporters after his Television Critics Association panel. “BONES has really been one of the mainstays of our schedule and we have picked it up for two more years. And I certainly would expect David to be a part of it.”

“There’s probably going to be a few interruptions, but not many,” Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting, told reporters after his Television Critics Association executive session panel in response to my question about whether the sci-fi series would run straight through for its last year. “Just the holidays [will be off]. AMERICAN IDOL: Mariah Carey Joins as a Judge

It’s official: Mariah Carey is joining AMERICAN IDOL.

“I’m so excited to be joining IDOL,” Carey said over the phone during Kevin Reilly’s Television Critics Association press tour panel. “I can’t wait to get started in a couple of months.”

As for the rest of the judging panel, it’s a little bit more of a question mark. Steven Tyler has officially said he’s off the show, but Jennifer Lopez’s status with the show is a bit unclear. (Reilly said that he thinks it’s 100% that Lopez won’t be returning.)

Are you excited Carey is coming to AMERICAN IDOL?

GLEE is adding some new faces: Dean Geyer and Jacob Artist have joined the series, Fox announced in a press release.

According to the network, Geyer (left) will play Brody Weston, a NYADA upperclassman “who shows an interest” in Rachel. (Uh oh…) As for Artist (right), he’ll be playing Jake Puckerman (yes, Puck’s younger half-brother)  who “tries out for the glee club, but his attitude could derail his audition.” They both first appear in the fourth season premiere.
