Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

SUPERSTORE: Jonah’s parents splitting up during lunch—after Amy accidentally influenced his father to reveal an affair—reminded me of when Jim accidentally inspired Pam’s parents to split up, but this was somehow more awkward, because it unfolding in front of the entire family. But holy moly, Josh was awful. At least Amy has a fan in Jonah’s mother.

As for that end scene, well, I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around Amy potentially leaving. Obviously, we know America Ferrera is leaving the show, but is she going to uproot her children, especially when Emma is likely on the cusp of finishing school, to move across the country? And why would Jonah not go with her? But we’ll see more when the (now-)season finale airs, and then even more when the new season, eventually, kicks off.

But my goodness, the actual customer competition made me laugh, even though clearly they shouldn’t have been playing that game. The customer bits have long been one of the best gags the show does, so for the characters to more extensively comment on it was great. [For more on what’s to come, Ben Feldman teased the finale and what it could mean for Jonah and Amy.]

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: Jake and Amy are going to have a boy! The Peralta men aren’t cursed, but oh boy, there has been some awful parenting. Thank goodness it seems like Jake is going to break the cycle. And I died when the show used every pregnancy hiding trope in the book to explain why the cops all knew Amy was already pregnant. What a hilarious acknowledgment of what the show has done, plus what so many other shows have done in the past.

Holt and Terry working together on music was a gift I didn’t know I needed. Those weirdos are fantastic together.

MOM: I mean, ethically, there’s no way Trevor should be seeing Bonnie, but he hasn’t always been professional, so it’s hilarious that now she finally trusts him.

GREY’S ANATOMY: Link and Amelia remain perfect and I am so, so, so thankful the show didn’t demolish their relationship. (Now, let’s put them in a bubble and keep them free from the drama that permeates any couple who dares to be happy for more than a few minutes on television.)

I’m torn about the Richard stuff, because I assume it’s not Alzheimer’s. But if it’s not that, what is it? It seems to be something with his brain, but is it curable? Is the show on the verge of losing another original cast member?

The Teddy/Owen/Tom thing is going to blow up, and it’s absolutely not going to be pretty.

BROKE: I truly wonder how the Reseda jokes play outside of the general Los Angeles area. Outside of that, it was an aggressively pilot pilot, so I’m curious how much of episode 2 is just kind of hammering home the same points.

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: Demore Barnes was fantastic in the episode. It’s really a tough line to toe when a member of the team has someone from their life get looped into the work world, but the show handled it really well and Garland was the right mix of wanting it not to be true/heartbroken/determined to get justice for the victims.

Man, I miss basketball so much, and I know Rick Fox hasn’t played for years, but seeing him still made me smile.
