Production on CHICAGO FIRE season 9 has shut down due to multiple positive COVID-19 tests.

The drama, which kicked off its season tonight, paused its filming on Sunday, November 8 after discovering the positive tests during routine testing. As like with CHICAGO MED, which shut down in September, the positives were in what is dubbed Zone 1 (which puts them in close contact with the cast and crew), so the network/studio played it safe and the set will be dark for two weeks.

Additionally, production followed safety guidelines established in the NBCU Production Playbook (set by the state and county), which includes contract tracing.

This is not expected to impact the episodes airing this year.

The shutdown was first reported by Deadline.

CHICAGO FIRE, Wednesdays, 9/8c
