Hetty Thor friendship

“Alberta’s Fan” – Alberta is thrilled when a super fan of her music visits the mansion to learn more about her. Also, Thor convinces Hetty to go on a walk with him in hopes that it will spark a special memory, on the CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, Dec. 2 (9:01-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. For as many adventures as GHOSTS’ Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) has had so far—from reuniting with her dead husband to accidentally possessing Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar)—one of the moments from her (pre-death) past could have the biggest impact on her afterlife going forward.

After Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long) attempted to bond with Hetty, she was baffled and, frankly, repulsed—until she realized he was her childhood imaginary friend, because children can occasionally see ghosts.

“I loved that storyline so much. And I love Devan Long so much; he’s a buddy of mine,” Wisocky says. “And I thought that that was just so beautifully done by our writers, and just was so fun to play. It was very unexpected. I think, hopefully, we’ll see more of that—the ways in which some of the older ghosts observed and potentially interacted with the living people that are now ghosts. We would have been around. We would have been around when Alberta was maybe murdered. We would have been around when Trevor lost his pants. All these things are very juicy. There’s so many possibilities of where we can go, and where we can go with each other.”

“It’s a deepening of the relationship,” she continues. “It goes back to when I say I enjoy hanging on to the hypocrisy of a character. Hetty has looked at Thorfinn in a different way, with a different softness and appreciation, since that revelation. Yet she’ll still turn around and call him a big brute. She’s still who she is as an animal, you know? I think that’s one of the things that’s enjoyable and very human.”

Looking to the rest of season 1, there’s good stuff ahead for the other ghosts.

“You’ll get to meet Sasappis’ father, who is played by Román Zaragoza’s real life father [Gregory Zaragoza],” Wisocky teases. “You will definitely find out how Trevor lost his pants. And—this is a good tidbit—a relative of mine, an ancestor of mine, was in the room when it happened. There’ll be some shenanigans that Isaac and Hetty get up to together, which were great fun to film. And it’s all been delightful. It’s been a dream.”

GHOSTS, Thursdays, 9/8c, CBS
