About Last Night…AMERICAN IDOL and AMERICAN SONG CONTEST

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

AMERICAN IDOL: Okay, it is supremely uncomfortable they did not cut Laine Hardy from this special AND HE KICKED IT OFF? How…did they not edit this down? At the very least, if you couldn’t cut him out entirely, you’d think they would want to minimize the praise from the judges and Ryan Seacrest? Eesh.

But, outside of that, it was a fun special. There was a good group of returning participants, even if the very biggest names from the past two decades were clearly MIA. But…fun.

AMERICAN SONG CONTEST: The difficult thing about repeating the same song throughout the competition is it’s kind of harder to wow the second time around unless something changes in a real way. These contestants were solid—I’d wager more than half of my personal top 5 are in this group—but nothing blew me away in a new way. It’ll make the finale interesting when everyone is singing these songs AGAIN…who can actually pop in a unique way?
