Jesse Spencer is returning for the CHICAGO FIRE season 11 finale, a source has confirmed to Give Me My Remote.

Spencer played firefighter Matt Casey for the show’s first ten seasons, before exiting as a series regular in episode 200. He returned for the season 10 finale, and recently guest starred in the season 11 episode “Danger Is All Around.”

When Spencer left, CHICAGO FIRE co-showrunner Derek Haas made it clear they would love to have him return.

“I never try to predict what’s going to happen, production-wise, but we’re in the camp of whenever Jesse wants to come do an episode with us, we will move mountains and Earth to make that happen,” Haas told reporters at the time.

Initially, Spencer’s Casey was in a long-distance relationship with Brett (Kara Killmer), but the duo broke up in the season 11 premiere. In “Danger is All Around,” Brett told Casey she was dating someone else, but it was clear she was conflicted about continuing the new romance. (Casey, for his part, lied to Brett about having a girlfriend.)

The CHICAGO FIRE season 11 finale will also be a big one for the series, as it marks the end of Haas’ tenure with the show.

CHICAGO FIRE, Wednesdays, 9/8c, NBC
