On Friday, May 12th, Deidre Hall celebrates her 5,000th episode of DAYS OF OUR LIVES, now streaming exclusively on Peacock.

Joining the cast in 1976 as Dr. Marlena Evans, Hall has been through everything you’d expect from a daytime drama. She’s been married to five different men, come back to life six times after being presumed dead, was the Salem Stalker serial killer, kept in a gilded cage in Paris, and, of course, been possessed by the devil—twice. She’s the warm-hearted therapist the entire town goes to for advice, half of one of the most dynamic, supportive, and loving supercouples in soap opera history, and the current matriarch of Salem, which is a title she more than deserves after four decades.

To wrap up this series of interviews, Give Me My Remote asked each person if there was something that they wanted to share about Hall that we hadn’t discussed already throughout our conversations.

GREG VAUGHAN (Eric Brady): I have nothing but mad love for her. And gratitude that she’s embraced me into her life at work and out of work. I’m very proud to be an extension of the family. I’m so proud to step onto the same platform and have some fun together with her. She’s a treat.

ROBERT SCOTT WILSON (Ben Weston/Alex Kiriakis): It’s been an honor. I don’t think I’ve done anything in my life 5,000 times, let alone a TV show. I’m personally grateful and honored to be a part of the whole process and take up a small portion of those episodes with her. I hope she does another 5,000.

ALI SWEENEY (Sami Brady): It’s perfect that Deidre is hitting this milestone, because she is so meaningful to the industry and to DAYS in particular.

ERIC MARTSOLF (Brady Black): Her work ethic is just so important with what we do. It’s such a standard and she really sets the standard with her desire to keep running the lines and keep doing the scene. Usually with anyone else you’ll run the scenes once, maybe twice. She’s three, four, five times. She wants it [to be] so comfortable so when we get out there to do it, it just flows. She’s proof that hard work still manifests good things. Look at our show. We’re 57, 58 years old. You don’t get there unless you have powerful players behind it. She’s definitely the cream at the top … She’s not only the Queen, but a very hardworking, thoughtful, lovely woman to work with. She’s the first one to call you up in your dressing room and say, “Come on, let’s nail this. Let’s get this. Let’s make this the best it can be.” And she could walk through her days. She could do the bare minimum if she wanted to and it would still be great but she has a work ethic in this world of entitlement. She’s old school. She works hard. And she wants the show to be as good as it can be every single day. And I think that’s just a testament to her longevity. I wish everyone wanted to work as hard as she does.

KYLE LOWDER (Rex Brady/former Brady Black): Deidre’s one of the legends of soap operas, and what I learned very quickly, what I want everybody to know, is in spite of her legendary status as Dr. Marlena Evans on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, we’re talking about a really awesome human being. Somebody who cares about her fellow actors and the crew and the show itself. And unbelievably giving of her time and expertise on set. I was a huge beneficiary of that. I hit the ground running, but I got my feet underneath me pretty quickly because of her. I just wanted to sum it up by saying that speaks volumes to who she is, not just as an actress but as a human being. Anybody who’s ever had the pleasure of meeting Dee or spending time around her would say that, and I just want to make sure that I echo those sentiments because she’s a special person—not just a special actress, but a special person. And it’s been a joy and a privilege to work with her and it remains that way because I continue to work with her today.

With that we come to the end of this series, showcasing the incredible woman behind 5,000 episodes of DAYS OF OUR LIVES. There’s a reason Deidre Hall is an icon, mentor, legend, Queen, and mom—not just to fans, but to the people she works with every day. Congratulations on this incredible milestone and accomplishment, Deidre. We all hope you’re in for 5,000 more.
